I gave this kit to my daughter for Christmas this year and we're still getting mushrooms 5 months later! We did take the block out of the box and put it in a aquarium after the first small flush and the whole block is covered. We have it up on a grate so it is not sitting on the glass, mist on a regular basis and make sure there is good airflow and it is still producing! Awesome gift that keeps on giving!! The grow kit was well worth the wait. Once it arrived, the fully colonized block fruited within a few days of cutting it open. The first flush was pretty good, and after harvesting the mushrooms I left the block in the fruiting chamber for a second flush. The second flush started growing almost immediately, and it was at least at big (or bigger) than the first flush. After I harvested the mushrooms, I figured the kit was done, so I left it on my table waiting to be recycled in a compost bin. But then, SURPRISE! A THIRD flush came out! YMMV, and this is more than I expected. I may even wait to see if there's a FOURTH flush left in the kit. The only downside is if you live in a dry area, especially in the winter, I think it's best to keep the block in a fruiting chamber to keep it at a high humidity environment. ... show more

    • Bought this and was let down only to be impressed by how fast they grew
Ordered this for my mom for Christmas, and it smelled bad out of the box. Never fruited, and eventually grew mold. But, i contacted to see about replacing and the process was an immediate replacement. I had discarded the old one because fearful of future contams. The new one came looking much healthier, with no unpleasant smell. It was cold and before christmas when i ordered it, so its expected these things happen when it gets cold. I’ve got this box and decided to wait a couple weeks before opening it. I’ve left it closed in my garage and few days later find out it bloomed and part of it got moldy due to being still inside the bag. I had to throw it away. It could have been great but had no way to set it up and get my mushrooms. ... show more

Having tried to grow mushrooms on my own from scratch, this kit is a pretty pain free experience. This kit has fruited 4 times so far and still going. Works as advertised. Great company.

Ok so first off. I was missing the squirt bottle. No dig deal. I had some laying around. Second the brick came in a few pieces. Not the biggest deal. Understand that transit might of been a factor. But I feel the mycelium was rather weak from what I have seen before which would make breakage easier. So now the grow. I tried the way on the box. I live hawaii. Good humidity. But did it as instructed. For 3 days. Nothing happen. The block looked more and more dry. So of course there was something going wrong. But I grow mushrooms myself and I have a automated fruiting chamber. I put it in there and within 3 days. The mycelium was thriving and it looked so good. 2 days later it finally pinned. And now I'm almost a week in and it's definitely growing. I ended up taking completely out the bag. Took the broken pieces and spawned them to new substrate that I made. And will see how that goes but I can't hate it's definitely growing. But if I was someone who had little to no knowledge then it could of failed or maybe I didn't wait as long. But seriously the mycelium looked like it was dieing. ... show more
