  • Astonishingly Bright
This device is not a toy. Upon picking it up for the first time, it's immediately obvious that this is a premium piece of kit. It's fairly small but surprisingly hefty, the design is sleek, build quality is excellent (all components seem extremely well-machined with tight tolerances), and most importantly––it puts out an absurd amount of light. No, seriously. This thing is complete overkill in the best way possible. Unless you're regularly riding nasty, technical trails in complete darkness, it's actually quite dangerous to use the higher brightness levels. I have this light mounted on top of my helmet, and I can honestly say I feel just as safe riding my electric skateboard at night as I do during the day because THIS LIGHT RADIATES PHOTONS LIKE A SMALL SUN. Beam pattern is excellent, hundreds of feet of throw (even more when mounted to my helmet) that blends seamlessly into a short-range flood. Speaking of which, the side-illumination feature is a game-changer. It simultaneously preserves your peripheral vision and reduces contrast across your field of view, making it much easier on the eyes. You'll find yourself feeling way more confident and situationally-aware while riding, and I honestly couldn't imagine going back to my old setup. Battery life is more than adequate for my purposes, although Turbo mode is a huge power hog (in my opinion, the 90 minute runtime on the 1500 lumen setting is way more useful than the 45 minute runtime on the 1800 lumen setting). I didn't use the provided mount, but the hardware seems sturdy enough. Overall, highly recommend this to anyone who wants the baddest, brightest self-contained light in this price range. Oh, and just a final reminder, if you use this thing on max brightness YOU WILL BLIND AND BEWILDER EVERY LIVING CREATURE YOU ENCOUNTER. Safe riding! ... show more

  • Best light I've ever had
I've been night riding for more than 20 years and have gone through many lights, this is by far the best and even better than my old $500 HID light from Light and Motion. Brighter than a car light, when I'm on the road I tend to use it on the low or medium setting, rarely do I need more light than that. I use it on a 25 mph ebike so it has to throw far enough to see beyond my stopping distance and this accomplishes that. With the diffuser lense on the front it gives the most even and soft light wider than other lights with no harsh edges to distract. I buy an overpowered light like this on purpose to use the lower settings and get more range. When on boost mode it does get very hot, almost to the point of burning your hand, so careful, the heat sinks work and produce a lot of heat. Get one, you'll love it. Coming from a night time mountain bike racer, a long time ago. Picture shows it mounted on a Planet Bike Fork Mount Bike Headlight Bracket also a great product. ... show more

  • Powerful, compact headlight
This was to replace a worn-out Light and Motion headlight that came with a custom built bike. Having already purchased 3 other Niterider high-end headlight light units, I decided to buy a more compact one for my Raptobike lowracer. It did not disappoint. A lot of light for such a small unit! The only thing I did not like was the mount. It was strong, but clunky. A big adjuster instead of an allen bolt secures the mount to the bicycle. It interfered with the tubing on my frame, so I had to mount it backwards, which required some modification. Also the charging socket on the light is a bit close to the mount. This makes charging the easiest when the light is removed from the mount, a bit of an extra chore. Niterider stands behind its products and it is easy to talk to a live human in the company if the need arises. The company is dedicated to always bettering its products. ... show more

  • brightness
I am big fan and serious MTB Rider. If you want the best bike night light, you must have this one. Bright, battery life ok, good quality lamp, nice wide handle support. I can ride 3 hours at night with medium intensity (is all you need in the woods and in the trail). I have some other night lamps that says have more lumens, but this NiteRider 1,800 is the best of all. Really love it. ... show more

  • A little disappointed
The brightness is good. Unfortunately it doesn’t stay charged as long as advertised. I commute by bike even in the winter. One our each way. It was charged overnight and on low it stayed lite for less than two hours. It went to red and dimmed to the point I could not see. I feel that I need to bring the charger with me to work so I can use it for on the way home fully bright. If I still had the packaging I would return it. ... show more

  • The best to date
I’ve a family of 4 that all ride bikes for primary transportation. Between all of us we’ve used dozens of headlights including most of the offerings from Niterider and Cygolite. This light has the smoothest and most secure mounting system of all of them any does not require you to dent your thumb to get the latch to release. The light itself is super bright, very long lasting at normal brightness levels, and has super efficient and responsive controls that make operating the light a pleasure. Buy it, you will be pleased ... show more

  • Broke on the first ride
I was descending down a single black diamond trail on my fat bike with the front fork unintentionally locked out. The light shut off half way down due to vibration. The LED indication light worked as normal but the light failed to illuminate and there was internally an audible rattling sound. I may get another but... maybe not. It worked very well for the first hour. ... show more
