  • Awesome scope, OK mount.
Color: Grey
Wow. I've owned these types of scopes for a few years now. Everything from the cheap, plastic lensed pocket scopes that leave you thinking you have glaucoma, to more expensive $150+ digital scopes marketed to coin collectors and insect enthusiasts. The image quality of this sub $50 kit rivals ANY of the others I've owned in the past. As with any microscope, your depth of field is going to be thin. This scope manages to have incredible image quality as well as a noticeable increase in DOF compared to my other scopes. Honestly, it's a slight improvement some may not notice, but believe me, it makes a difference! Now, the "bad" things. When focusing, the wheel feels almost like some of my professional L series lenses. Very smooth throughout its range. The only VERY slight issue I had, was a tiny bit of focus drift. After a couple days of using it, the issues has resolved itself. With it being a brand new item, there going to be some degree of break in. Mine took about 45 minutes total usage. Not long at all once you start to see things in such beautiful detail that you'd never see with the naked eye. The biggest issue I had, was the mount for the scope. To be completely transparent and honest, I'm a bit of a snob when it comes to my gear. For me, I need a scope mount that is sturdy, and height adjustable. This mount is sturdy enough to do the job, but it can be a hassle to adjust, and you'll need to stack something under it if you need more height. Personally, I'd just buy the other mount they sell. For $22, it's worth it's weight in gold if you want rock solid, sharp pictures. Again, the mount is more a preference of mine. I got plenty of usage out of the mount it comes with until I installed it in my other mount. Overall, I love this scope! I have over 200k worth of professional photography gear, and this scope deserves a spot in my bag, right along with the rest of my gear. This isn't a super nuclear powered alien tech scope that let's you see molecules breathe, but for its intended usage and price point, you will not find a finer piece of kit. I've added 3 pictures to show the amazing images this scope creates. 1 is a screw showing the threads, and then an even closer shot of a single thread. The last, is an image of the date on a US dime. I just can't say enough how amazing and unbelievable this scope is! ... show more

  • Great value but not completely Wireless
Color: Grey
This is my 3rd camera purchased from the same company. i've purchased their 1080, 2K and now this 4K camera. All have been super simple to use, great build quality and of course great resolution and lighting strength as well. This 4K camera is no different. I'm very pleased with the build quality and battery life/expectancy. Pairing it to a phone or tablet is very simple using the included instructions. In short: First download the app listed in the instructions (there are two available but I ended up using the first, Wifi Check". Power on the camera and it will show up as a wifi network. Connect your phone or tablet to that network first and then launch the app. That's it. While it is wireless in that it can connect to a phone or tablet wirelessly, it cannot connect to a PC or Mac wirelessly. The instructions say this as does the item description so I can't take away a store, since they're being honest about it. Overall a great camera and great value. I would definitely purchase their products again in the future. ... show more

  • Impressive!
Color: Grey
This is my second digital microscope. I was pleasantly surprised by the detailed resolution on this one. After the initial charge, was easy to set it up on my iPad and nice not to have to deal with the cord. I initially used it to look at the flaws and inclusions in diamonds. The adjustable led lighting was bright and worked great. I couldn’t imagine needing more magnification. You can also photograph the image and save as a .jpg file. Overall I’m very pleased with it and a good value for the money. If you connect it to a computer it’s must be through a usb cable. You will probably want to use a different stand. The one that comes with it isn’t very useful. I’d definitely buy it again if I needed another one. ... show more

  • Pretty incredible piece of equipment
Color: Grey
This is the best portable microscope that I've owned yet, and I now have a collection of 5 of these from different companies. For the price, it's difficult to criticize. However, I'll do my best to lay out the Pros and Cons. I've also included a photo of the microscope in hand, and some (perhaps a bit gross) dermatological images I've taken on myself. Pro: - Crazy good picture quality, I work within a scientific laboratory and we've transitioned to using these portable consumer microscopes because they get you 95% the way there and are much more expedient than desktop microscopes - TWO focal points -- this is not advertised on the box anywhere but I am used to these handheld microscopes only having one focal point whose distance changes based on your zoom level (greater zoom moves the focal point toward the lens). While using this microscope, I've noticed it has two points where the picture is clear, one reasonably far from the lens (with less zoom) and one that is very much a macro picture. It also has very linear focal travel - Wireless -- most of the other microscopes that I have used are USB-enable which can work both for a computer and phone. Typically I am taking photos on my phone, but I also used a bulky case which required me to remove the case in order to take any images. It was inconvenient but tolerable. Now that this operates using wifi (direct to phone) I don't have to worry about cables and can imagine using it for tasks that require a free hand which was more difficult when you have the phone trailing the microscope via cable Cons: - Needs an app for intended use. This is somewhat obvious because it's wireless, but it's a worthwhile bit to point out. This is far less plug & play than some of the USB microscopes that are out there. I haven't yet tested to see if I can simply plug the microscope via microUSB into the computer to get it to operate but I don't foresee myself using it on anything but my phone. As a precaution, I would shy away from using a tool like this on any phone that also contains sensitive information (i.e. work phones), simply because apps always run the risk of exposing cyber vulnerabilities - Heating -- I notice that after about 15-20 minutes of use, the tail end of the device does feel warm to the touch. Not dangerously hot, but about 30 degree celsius (~85 F). I have not pushed it to its limits but heating can sometimes signal that the battery life will degrade over time or not be operable in very warm or humid climates. Overall, I am incredibly satisfied with the tool and now have it at my deskside to try out on all kinds of things. If you have somebody in your life who works in a job that requires magnification or is just very curious about the world just beyond what our eyes can see, I think they will appreciate and enjoy this tool as much as I do! ... show more
