I am able to walk up the stairs normally - something I haven't been able to do in weeks. I measured at the top end of XL and decided to order 2XL. The fit was great! Some reviews have suggested that the straps were not effective in tightening the brace. I did not have that experience. These are well designed and provide wonderful support. However the hinges protrude/bulge on both side of the knee which as long as you don’t walk with your knees close to each other or you only need one you will be fine. Unfortunately I need it on both knees and while walking on a narrow pathway looking for my seat at an event the bulges locked somehow to each other and I landed on another guest.     • Sturdy and comfortable brace

Strained my left knee and my normal compression type sleeve support wasn't cutting it. I ordered this and was happy to get it later that night. I used it the next day at work, 12 hour shift with a lot of walking and going up and down stairs. Although maybe a tad bulky i don't see any way to streamline it without losing features or support. I'm actually wearing it now and overall its pretty decent. I'm walking better instead of compensating and irritating my back. As far as build quality, everything looks well stitched, the hardware is doing its job. The velcro and straps are good thus far. I'm 5'8" and 275ish so i got the xxxl per sizing chart, perfect fit! I can wear this all day at work and don't need to adjust it at all. I do wish it had some silicone type grippy stuff at the inner top of the sleeve, but the straps do a decent enough job to keep it in place. Maybe a little bulky for some, but this brace gives plenty of support and with it comes confidence of movement without straining your knee even more. I purchased this because it was cheaper than the brace I've used for the last decade, and looked to be more durable due to different design with the hinges. I ultimately returned it, because it did not work for me. It felt like a high quality brace, however. I took the required measurement of 6 inches above my knee to determine what size brace I needed. Unfortunately, it was too tight on my calf and too loose on my thigh, even when adjusting the x-straps. The x-straps are interesting, in that you can adjust how tight or loose you need it, even finer than with the main straps. I think the x-straps would've been better if there was more velcro covering them, so you could really tighten or loosen in a wider range. Also, the hinges were very stiff. I tried mimicking the motion of it bending while walking, while I was holding it, and it did not seem to be fit to run in. I'm sure after using it for a bit, it would've "broken in" some and had been less stiff. Long ago, I was told by someone who sold medical braces that it should feel good when you put it on. The brace I've used for the last 10 years feels good when I put it on. This one, however, only felt good when I was sitting. Probably because it felt like it was cutting off circulation at my calf. Overall: Gave this 3 stars because the sizing did not work, and it was unable to adjust to comfortably fit my probably strange shaped leg. I've used a variety of braces for different joints (I'm falling apart!), from different companies and this brace was one of the higher quality ones I've tried out. I have been trying various braces on my knee for the last few months. It was a progression from the least amount of support (sleeve-type) up to this hinged brace. I wanted to start with the "slimmer" types of braces as I would be wearing it under my pants. Turns out I should've just started with this one. My knee is very unstable, so the strength and support from this brace is very helpful. It also happens to be more comfortable than any of the others that I've tried. Fits under my pants no problem. I plan on using this brace indefinitely, so I hope it stays in production for years to come. ... show more

This is meant to be a first look out the package. I’ll update as I wear it more. When I first took the brace out of the package, I didn’t noticed that both of the longer straps were routed backwards along the back of the brace. I'm not sure if this was for shipping purposes or if it had been an opened package. Regardless, when I placed the brace over my knee, I couldn't get a snug fit. The longer straps were meant to be routed along the front, not the back. Despite my best efforts to tighten them, I couldn't achieve a secure fit. At the time I hadn’t discovered the orientation error. After carefully examining the brace and recalling my experience with similar products, I identified the orientation error. Additionally, the instructions did not include any written or visual guidance indicating that the long straps should be routed to the front. After correcting the orientation of the straps, I was able to secure the brace to my knee properly. Additionally, the X straps were not helpful due to their small wire loop footprint. They are supposed to be finely adjustable, but in reality, they can only be adjusted to one position. These straps could use more wire loop along the entire strap. For anyone experiencing fit issues, I recommend checking the orientation of your long straps before considering a return. ... show more
