    • Great but with two warnings

This product does exactly what it says; it is a neater way of feeding cats. That said, it's also a bit more work. I have three cats. One likes to dig in the water dish for a minute or so before drinking, making water puddles on the floor. Another can't seem to keep food in his mouth when chewing and ends up spreading dry food out in a foot diameter. The last, thank goodness, doesn't have any messy eating quirks. I bought this because I am constantly having to both sweep and mop around the kitchen where the food dishes are. Usually it's daily but sometimes it's multiple times a day. Because I get both food and water everywhere, the food gets wet and starts turning to mush on the floor and it's really gross. So we bought this in hopes it would contain the mess and save my floor and sanity. My first warning is that the bowls are so tiny. The one we use for the food doesn't bother me at all but for water, it's just way too small for three cats. If we didn't have a messy eater who drops food bits into the bowl causing me to clean the dish and refill it a few times a day, I would probably have to refill it once or twice a day as it is because it's so small. My second warning is that while it does contain the mess, there still is a mess and cleaning it is easy but can be time consuming. I don't mind doing it once a day as it's much nicer than having to mop all the time, but if you have a messy eater and drinker like me and are looking for something to make it *easier* to clean up, this may not be what you're looking for. It takes me about ten minutes to clean both dishes, get all the food bits out from around where the dishes go and wash the darker bronze area and then clean up the bottom catcher portion. Sweeping and mopping took way less time but for my personal preferences, this way works better for me. Keep that in mind. Looks-wise, I really like it. It's discreet enough and small enough that I don't find it an eyesore in the least. The height is good for cats (although they do sell leg extenders separately) and two can easily fit their heads together in there side by side. My only non-messy eating cat is very skittish and paranoid and was very nervous about eating and drinking from this because the walls acted like blinders but after three days, he got over it and has no problems now. If your cat acts the same, give them a bit of time to get used to it before giving up. Overall, I would definitely recommend it as long as you are aware that this doesn't eliminate your need to clean up after your animals but at least contains the mess to a small area. ... show more

Good Sturdy design for a medium size dog. I have a corgi and it cuts down on the splatter. This has two clean features, one its heavy and can't easily slide across the floor. Second, it has a drain at the base of the opening. He can't eat from it sideways and spill, so he must always be positioned over the spillway when drinking and eating. I read about a hard-to-remove, sticker, mine did not have that. They were different and easily peeled off. It was setup in like 1 minute. The slow-feeder capacity is slightly more than a cup, and the circle design works well to stop him from gobbling up the food. Now I can also put them right in the dishwasher to sanitize. I really hated having to hand-scrub the other maze-like slow feeders. That was such a pain, trying to get all the little corners. Buy this one. ... show more

I really like that it keeps the dry food contained so I am not stepping on it. It seems to be very sturdy and I like the colors. Now if I could get my one dog to drink out of a bowl instead of a glass. They are very spoiled and special.

    • Keeps the food in the bowl unless your dog is a “food dragger”

This dog dish has solved 90% of my problems with dog food mess. Maggie was reluctant at first but add food, and she went for it. She seems happy to eat the food in the bowl and drag her food up next to the bowl on the flat surface for the most part. It would be helpful if there was a little more surface to drag the food to - that probably would resolve the issue completely as she still pulls some out on to the floor for lack of space. These dogs need to have a secondary surface to drag food to. Expanding the width between bowls for a little more flat surface would also eliminate complaints about food and water splashing into one another. Also when you pick up the dish, you have to be careful as the bottom and top will not stay together which is no big deal as long as you know it’s going to happen. They don’t snap together clean. This was a good purchase for me. And if they would make a little wider surface adjustment for the “food draggers” that would be awesome for dogs. A good buy at an ok price. Of course none of my existing stainless bowls fit well. Stainless bowls are a must. If the Neater bowls aren’t stainless, I will try to find the same size elsewhere and replace them.
