We have a basset, great pyranese mix who had outgrown her bowl that was kept on a mat on the floor, so I searched for a lifted one that would also work with her current slow feeder since it was necessary to keep it. I wasn’t sure that it would fit, and although it doesn’t fit into the hole, it is able to sit right on top without sliding around and falling off. That is a huge plus and saved us from having to buy another slow feeder bowl to fit the hole. The bowls that come with this are very deep so we don’t have to fill her water bowl up as often as before, so that’s another great feature. I also really like that this comes with three options for height so it’s more versatile but we ended up needing the tallest option anyways. Hopefully she doesn’t get too much taller or I may have to add some more lift to it. She loves the ease of access now which makes me happy too. I will say that it is a no brainer to put it together but is kind of unsteady. I read some other reviews and placed it up against the wall so it’s perfectly fine, but I’m not sure it wouldn’t get tipped over by a stronger dog on the tallest setting if it weren’t against the wall. The middle height setting is also unsteady but since it’s closer to the ground I don’t think it would ever tip over. I didn’t try the shortest. An added benefit is that my dog doesn’t seem to make such a mess when eating and definitely doesn’t splash water as much with this being at a better height for her size, and the size of the bowls. ... show more

It's nice for what it's needed for as far as elevation for our tall dogs but I can't see it lasting too long depending on the behavior and temperament of the dog. It's not super thin but also not thick plastic by any means. It gets the job done and for that price you can't argue it!

We've had this since 2017. The bowls have not rusted, chipped, dented, or cracked, no matter how many times they've been through the dishwasher or thrown across the room by my senior jerkdog. We love him, really. But if his bowl is empty, this feeder goes flying to get our attention. He's an abused rescue with food insecurity, we finally got him to quit digging for food in the trash, gain some weight, and feel secure in the fact that we will never not feed him. But now he makes sure to LET.US.KNOW. when his bowl is empty. Even at 3am. We only use one side now for food. But I digress... It puts up with his abuse. It goes through the dishwasher (stand and bowls). Bowls weekly, stand monthly. It still fits back together as tight as it did the day we got it, even though it has been taken apart and put back together repeatedly. I wanted to switch from ceramic to stainless steel bowls. This served it purpose and work perfectly. Good height for my 110 lb lab. A little bit light weight so I suggest having it pushed up against something like I have it against the counter.
