This is a very nice, well built, well packaged handgun safe. I looked at several similar, cheaper, "quick access", made in China handgun safes, but poor reviews convinced me to consider this one. I definitely made the right choice. So far it has worked flawlessly. I like having three different methods of entry - a numeric key pad, a biometric finger print scanner, and if all else fails, a physical key. Set up directions were easy to understand and easy to follow, and when I registered this safe for its 1 year warranty, the manufacturer provided a free (and much appreciated) 2 additional years of warranty. Be advised that the emergency key access is on the backside, so depending on how and where this safe is mounted, having to use a physical key may be a real (if not impossible) challenge. Battery access is on the front, which is a nice feature, as is the interior drawer light. I did find it odd that the instruction manual warned against using this drawer safe for the storing of a loaded handgun, when it's clearly advertised to be a quick access handgun safe - liability reasons I suppose. I don't normally submit product reviews, but I'm well pleased with my purchase of this small but heavy, well engineered gun safe. After taking measurements of the cubby in our current nightstands this fit perfectly. As I was only gauging my safe buying decision based on measurements I wasn't expecting a safe as well built as I received. Instructions were easily understood. You can have between a 4 digit and 6 digit code comprised of the numbers 1-4. Also comes with a mount and rubber feet if you want to have it mounted in or under a desk or just leave it as a standalone. Pros: Good gauge of sheet metal Does not have any sharp edges Comes with a set of keys in case batteries die or you forget your code Has an interior light You can turn the alarm and button noises off Cons: I had to redo my bimetrics once after I had it mounted due to finger positioning when it was free floating. (but it takes seconds to redo) I don't see a place to attach a security cable tie down if you wanted to secure it while still free floating. ... show more

I have only had this drawer safe mounted and using for 1 day, but I have been testing it a lot, I will say so far, I am impressed, if it continues to function as it is today, I will be very happy. the safe came packaged very well. mounting and set up was straight forward, the one thing I will say is be aware the emergency key is in the back, so if you are mounting where the safe is against a wall or cabinet consider access for the key. so, I believe this was a good purchase......time will tell. thank you ... show more

I did a lot of research on several safes from different companies and this is definitely a great safe. Sturdy all around. Fits inside my nightstand drawer for quick access. Love the dual entry with biometric fingerprint and big keypad. It stores up to 20 fingerprints, meaning I can store all of our fingerprints between me and my wife. A lot of other safes only have one entry mode and that's inadequate in an emergency. And it comes at a great price point. ... show more

I own a Moutec long gun safe, which I also reviewed. After purchasing a handgun, I was interested in a faster access option. Since I was very happy with my previous Moutec purchase, I looked to see what options they had and decided on the CT01F. By the way, if you are an Amazon Prime member, the purchase price (at least at the time I bought mine) was reduced by $30. The safe arrived well-padded within its box. It has a very nice (at least to my taste) black crinkle finish. It can be opened with a manual key from the back, or with your choice of a fingerprint reader or 4 number PIN pad from the front panel, which also features a battery level indicator. One feature I really like, compared to some other safes, is that the battery holder is accessible from the outside of the safe, enabling them to be replaced without the need to open the safe. A small screwdriver is even provided to access the battery compartment. Be forewarned, the cover plate is spring-loaded with a fairly strong spring and the door may go flying! Fortunately, the screw is captive and will still be there once you retrieve the door! The instructions recommend 4 new AA batteries and none are included, perhaps to make that more likely. I installed a new set, entered the default ‘1-2-3-4’ PIN the safe popped right open. A light on the back of the faceplate lights the interior of the safe for several seconds when it opens, a nice feature since everything is black! The interior tray has the same black crinkle finish as the exterior. The bottom comes with eggcrate type foam to pad your guns – see the photo with my full size S&W – and the interior will easily hold a second full-size handgun. It comes with a mounting plate attached to the bottom, which can easily be changed to the top, so the safe can also be mounted under a desk, nightstand shelf or other easily accessible location, rather than on top. The plate mounts with 6 screws, which are provided. The only real mounting issue that concerned me (and this isn’t mentioned in the instructions) is that you should leave at least 3” of space at the rear of the safe so that it can be opened with the key if for some reason all the electronics fail. The default PIN code is changed by opening the safe and following the instructions with the small blue ‘program’ button at the rear. This was easy to do and any combination of 3 to 8 digits can be used. The fingerprint registration was as easy as resetting the PIN. There are suggestions to follow if you have any problems getting your finger(s) to register. It will hold up to 20 different prints. Clearing all prints to start over is also easy. They suggest re-testing your prints every 6 months of so. All in all, I am very pleased with this safe! ... show more
