This item is a great solution for anyone owning a gas grill and not wanting to shell out big bucks for a smoker grill when the few dollars spent here and a bag of wood pellets will smoke your food just fine. Sure, you don't have the fancy electronics or wi fi enabled apps to control temperatures but if you watch it closely it will do the job. Can't imagine giving it less than 5 stars. It does exactly what it's designed for and if the easy lighting instructions are followed, the most difficult task will be putting it out when you're done cooking. ... show more

I gave this cold smoker tube 4 stars. This tube works great. Only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because this tube as full as you can get it lasts between 3 1/2 to 4 hours. That's more then enough for bbq'ing but it's far from ideal for cold smoking salmon, fish or oysters. I am using alder pellets and again the tube falls a bit short on length of time before reloads. If you like to cold smoke anything like fish that takes 18 to 24 hours, I would suggest buying the bigger smoke boxes. This is a great product. The smoke it creates is very thick and intense. And it always continues to burn when it has pellets in it! ... show more

    • fun for adding smoke to my treager
i have been using wood chips instead of pellets. they smoke better, burn too fast, but worth the effort. i mix some different woods together for a balance. i cold smoked salmon without the smoker turned on for about an hour and it put that smell right in there. then i turn the smoker on to cook. that was fun. it stunk up the house pretty good so i know it worked. getting it lit is interesting. you light the end like a fat churchill cigar and let it catch fire for a minute then blow out the flame to get it really smoky. pellets are harder to light. they kept going out. keep an eye on it so it doesnt flame up. there is no smoke with the flame. used it about 5 times and not sorry i got it ... show more

Such a great smoker. It allows you to easily cold smoke cheese. A couple of weeks ago we did a cold smoke on sharp cheese. The cheese tastes phenomenal. I highly recommend this smoker.

I bought this for my husband as a gift and he loves it. He cold smoked a variety of cheeses and cold meats the other day for a meat and cheese tray. We couldn't stop eating them!
