This is my first ever sewing machine, for a new hobby I have never picked up before. So when I say this machine is incredibly user-friendly that means something 😅. Googling the “UFR-505 Tutorial” pulls up hundreds of very concise tutorials showing the many functionalities of this machine, and the instruction manual is very clear about the machine as well. As far as performance, in my opinion, this is an awesome machine! The stitches come out straight, consistent in lengths, the machine hardly jams, and when it does it’s easy to fix. Most times if it isn’t threaded properly, it will stop running to prevent more serious tangles (which complicated things when I first took it out of the box 😅 but was easily fixed). The tutorials I saw before/after I purchased this sewing machine said it was more of a light duty machine, due to its size. It’s fairly small so I’m inclined to agree, though I have seen it sew through ~4-8 layers of denim, so it could if the need arose. I’m a huge fan of the LED lamp that lights up the needle area, there’s a presser foot/guard thing that keeps the needle itself pretty far from your fingers, and the machine itself, though small, does feel pretty stable and safe to operate. The thread cutter isn’t the best for trimming the thread, but it does work well enough, and I like it’s distance from the needle too. I have yet to use the bobbin threader, but it also seems pretty easy to operate given all the video tutorials. I’ve seen other reviews of people having this specific sewing machine for years on end, and seeing it run, I also think mine could last years with proper care. ^_^ this would be a great starter for kids I think, or even young adults like me who have not seen before. 10/10 Happy crafting!! ... show more

    • Great beginner machine!

Good little beginner machine or nice for small simple projects. Right out of the box it's easy to start using. I just needed something to occasionally hem some pants. This is perfect for it. It does want to get a little jammed with thicker fabric but easily moves passed it with help. My only dislike is that in order to use the foot petal it has to be used with batteries. Unless I'm doing it wrong? It seems if the power cord is in use then it can only be used with the automatic on/off button. When the petal is plugged in, it will not work with the power cord. I would rather have more control of speed and use the foot petal, so I just take the batteries out after each use. ... show more

Its eazy to use and very intuitive. I did have a couple problems at first but that was the fault of the learning curve and not the machine. Overall I would recommend to anyone not looking for a heavy duty over the top machine. its simple and works and thats enough for me, and maybe for you.

I was really excited for it, but had to exchange it once and then return it completely. I am a beginner in sewing. Had to watch YouTube to learn how to thread it up. But the thread wouldn’t stay for both machines.

Easy to learn and use nice stitch appearance. After seeing a few things the needle started hitting the bobbin housing when sewing with a slightly sturdier fabric. It was not thick fabric just a nice quality compared to the thin cotton fabric. Can't use the product now without bending needles.

It is fine for small jobs on thin material. I fixed a small hole in some jeans with no trouble but when I went to do a big job- making drapes - it absolutely can not handle that. I would have returned it but I’m 5 days outside the window. Should have started my drapes last week!

This little sewing machine is awesome, great for small projects with a nice selection of stitches with two (2) speeds. It won't sew thick or heavy fabric (I tried). I like this sewing machine of it's size. I live in a travel trailer and space is limited. It's little and will run on electricity or batteries.
