If you are starting a small embroidery business or looking to expand your current setup, this machine could be a good investment. • An Excellent Machine for the price
This is an absolutely fabulous machine. This is great for getting into embroidery. We immediately were able to up our game at our apparel shop by having this machine. It's very easy to use and very simple to take your digitized graphics and transfer them to the machine. We haven't had any problems with ours. Make sure and oil and maintain it as you should with anything of value that you want to keep nice and working and it's been a dream. The only down side is that it doesn't do caps which isn't that big of deal because I knew it didn't when I bought it. You can get a hoop that can do the softer fronted caps but I wouldn't recommend it. For everything else it's great and there's really no limit. ... show more

  • Garbage
I just used it for a month and a half and suddenly it stopped working. I clean it every day and I take a good care of it. I didn’t expect to have any issues with it at least a few years .

  • Good Commercial Start-Up Machine
I have the Janome MB-7 (same machine with 3 more needles) and the computer unit on the side like this one. As always, you have to read the manual to figure out the process. It works very well with a bit of a learning curve. I've had it about a year and have been able to do 15 patches at a time for a bowling league, 30 linen napkins for a wedding, multiple kitchen towels, embroidered toilet paper, and several EmbroiderBuddies without issue. I've done all of this without a single needle break and I've used MadieraPoly and Floriani threads in it. I'm very familiar with Brother machines so my only issue with this machine, and the reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5, is that you cannot go backwards a specific number of stitches if you need to. It will go backwards by itself if it realizes a mistake in time, but if you find a mistake you want to fix that the machine didn't recognize, it's nearly impossible to get the needle exactly where you want it. I'm comparing this to the Brother/BabyLock feature of Needle +- . This is an excellent machine if you want to get into commercial embroidery without the huge initial cost of a multi-needle of other brands. If you are going commercial, I would however, recommend the MB7 over the MB4 just to be able to do designs with more colors and less thread changes for big jobs. ... show more

  • It was a wonderful machine until it stopped working
I bought this machine here in 2016. It ran beautifully for two years, and then suddenly quit working. The moving head that holds the needles now makes a loud grinding noise and then stops, and the message on the screen tells me to turn the machine off and back on. I've turned it off and on many times, but it doesn't help. Even worse, I live in Reno, NV, and can't find any repair shop in Reno or northern California that will service this model. So it seems I've wasted my money. I recommend that before you buy this machine, you might want to first make sure there's a Janome service technician near you who can work on it. ... show more

  • Janome MB-4 is awesome!
I have had mine for 3 years and LOVE it! There was a learning curve but well worth the effort I have two other embroidery machines but this one out does them all. I also have a 1100SE, which is a great machine but hardly use it after getting this one.

  • Such a disappointment.. was unable to stitch its built in ...
I ended up returning it .Such a disappointment ..was unable to stitch its built in design. I've been doing embroidery for 17 years and had 2 Baby Lock machines and compared to Janome they're just a miracle. I'll never buy Janome ever again.

  • support is crap.
Do NOT buy a jamone..... I had my machine a MB7 for a 1 1/2 years and it has been in shop 7 times. The last 2 times the certified janome repair man could not fix it . It spent 2 months in New Jersey getting fixed. Then When i received it it was not fixed so back to New Jersey. This time was only 6 weeks. When you call to check on machine you leave message and NEVER get a call back. I like the machinne WHEN IT WORKS. DO NOT BUY A JANOME. Put in a little more money and get a babylock. ... show more
