  • Decent Saw - Poor Ergonomics
First off, for the price, you get a lot. The tool is hefty, and feels solid. But, that is pretty much where the good stuff ends. It isn't a typical saw where the blade guard retracts as you engage the work. It is a plunge saw with the ability to adjust the depth of cut. That's pretty cool if your job requires a plunge cut that is less than about 1.125 inches. However, this means that the angle you hold the saw changes from when you place the saw on the work and when you cut. I find that at some point in every cut, my wrist is at an odd angle. No big deal for the occasional cut, but a drag if you are working with it all day. (It's a pretty specialized tool. I can't imagine a job that would require you to use it all day.) It comes with lots of extras (blades for different materials - rip guide - wrench - carry bag - dust/vacuum attachment). And, it has a laser guide. (I use pencil lines for most of my work. The laser's line is a bit too thick to be of real help.) I would be inclined to give this three stars. It seems well made, but the ergonomics are poor. However, the price makes up for a lot - so, four stars. ... show more

  • An effective Mini Circular Saw that's compatible with 20V MAX batteries.
The saw feels solidly built and has plenty of power for the size of material it's intended for. There is a dust collection hose provided which I attached for the photo op, but didn't use in practice. There is also a rip fence provided which is easy to install but again not used for my crosscut trial. I did try the laser line which aligns with the blade and the notch and diamond cutout in the base plate to follow my trial line. They all worked to get close to the desired cut, but were quickly off the surface while the cutting was occurring. There is a side safety button that unlocks the baseplate lock so the blade will drop down to the cutting depth. That same button must remained depressed to engage the trigger for power. For my hand configuration the location of the side press along with the trigger press felt awkward, but was manageable with a little practice. The depth guide is in millimeters so Alexa told me I needed 19.05 millimeters to penetrate my 3/4" board so I set the depth lock to 22mm. The cut was clean with no binding. I didn't try the thin material or tile blade that came with the saw since my primary use will be on 1x3 boards as a crosscut. The guide is marked with 29mm which makes the max blade depth approximately 1.1 inches. Overall this may be a very handy, light to maneuver cutting tool. ... show more

  • Portable and cordless.
I recently tried out the Mellif Mini Circular Saw, and here are my thoughts on this cordless tile saw: Firstly, the compatibility with 20V MAX batteries is a convenient feature, as it allows you to use your existing power tool batteries with this saw. However, it's important to note that the battery is not included, so you'll need to purchase that separately. The saw's 3200RPM speed is impressive and allows for efficient cutting through a variety of materials, including wood, plastic, and soft metal. The inclusion of three 3-1/2" blades is a nice bonus, as it provides versatility for different cutting tasks. One standout feature is the laser guide, which greatly enhances precision and accuracy when making cuts. This is particularly useful for those who require clean and straight cuts for their projects. The max cutting depth of 1-2/11" is suitable for a range of applications, but it's important to be aware of its limitations. For thicker materials, you may need to make multiple passes, which could be time-consuming. One potential downside is that the saw might feel a bit bulky and heavy for prolonged use, especially if you're working on overhead projects. However, this is a common issue with many circular saws. In conclusion, the Mellif Mini Circular Saw is a versatile and powerful tool that can handle various cutting tasks effectively. The laser guide is a standout feature that enhances accuracy, and the inclusion of three blades adds value. Just keep in mind that it's not the most lightweight option, and you'll need to supply your own 20V MAX battery. Overall, it's a handy addition to a DIY enthusiast's toolkit for smaller to medium-sized projects. ... show more

  • The quality (at least perceived) per price is incredible
This saw feels suprisingly nice for the price. I don't know how they can make something like this and sell it so inexpensively. The laser actually points along the cut line. It says it is brushless and it definitely sounds brushless. The bad news (I think) is the safety guard which is unlike any I have ever used before. Instead of having a static platform and a blade guard that rotates around the blade, this design has the platform rotate relative to the blade in order to fully retract it above the platform. When retracted it is like a common circular saw with its depth set to zero. To cut, the platform rotates against a spring to allow the blade to extend beneath it. The small clamp on the dial on the side of the saw sets the depth. It acts as a stop. None of the happens without the safety thumb switch being depressed. Otherwise the platform is locked with the blade in the retracted position. This is somewhat clever, but the spring is going to act in a way to try and push the saw up out of a cut while you use it. It's probably going to be annoying and become subject to efforts to remove or defeat it. I wish they had just used a standard guard. ... show more

  • Interesting Tool
This is the First time I have used or owned a Mini Circular saw and I think I am going to find a bunch of uses for this. It took me a while to test this out and I have only used the wood blade, but I think the metal and tile blades might come in handy. The saw is pretty light and easy to maneuver. I feel pretty safe using this tool in almost situation I ran it down an Oak Log holding in my hand and felt like it was perfectly OK. I really like the Depth stop (once I got it Locked) I found it very easy to do plunge cuts. I didn't look to see if you can do bevel cuts but really not needed. The laser line is a great extra that I really appreciate. Great tool and Uses Standard Dewalt 20V batteries. ... show more
