This artificial orchid looked great out of the box. My friends were over when it arrived, and they wanted to know how Amazon was delivering real flowers without a mess or any damage to them. Even upon closer inspection, they were still in awe of how real the greens and petals looked. I thought I had found the perfect place for it right above my fireplace, but this plant is on the small side. I'm sure my 75" screen tv next to it didn't help. The vase and the orchids themselves are very nice quality. We have been buying Micasa items for years and they have never disappointed. This one doesn't either. The 4 stars are only because the item itself is quite small than what I assumed from the description. I am a long-time fan of silk and artificial plants, and use them to decorate all over my home. This artificial orchid is very realistic-looking and is approximately 15" when lengthened, but I can't give it 5 stars or recommend giving as a gift because mine came with a whole orchid flower missing, and one of the centers broken off from the rest of the flower. I’ve been looking at these for awhile now. I know I’d kill a live plant if I had it. If you are right next to it, you can tell it’s not real. From across the room, it’s great. It might be too perfect even. I’m very happy I finally decided to get one.

I ordered this product because the colors and design fit in well with the color scheme in my living space. I have cats, one is a plant murderer, and the reason most of my plants live in terrariums or cages, hang from places she can't get near, or live outside. I got really excited when I unpacked this, it actually looks real and doesn't have that weird silk look or those thin string coming loose like some you find in stores. I love plants, flowers, etc. but my cat is a meanie head. I got this because I needed something to dress up the background of my office for my online meetings, but I didn't want anything fussy, didn't want to spend a ton on accessories, and wanted to keep it kind of simple. I stacked some books I already owned, decorated it with things I typically keep in other areas, but something was missing. And then I realized, a lot of my co-workers have plants, and I have none that aren't contained somehow. I happened upon this and thought, sure let's give it a shot. I'm going to see what else Mikasa has, because out of the box, plant murderer showed up and immediately went on the attack (I really don't know what her deal is) only to stop pretty quickly when she realized it was a fake. She ignores it now, and I can't find any damage (she went for the back stem under the flower head, because she's ruthless like that) she may have done. I've had it in place for over a week, have left it unattended, and it's still looking perfectly real. Other cats have seen it, smelled it, did not identify it as a plant, and have ignored it. This fake orchid is lovely in so many different ways! I got the larger of the options and I LOVE how big it is! I would measure for sure you're space because I thought I knew where it was going but it's much bigger than I expected and I had to pivot my plans (PIVOT! PIIIIIVOT!!). But I am super glad I did, I love it's new location. The pot itself is really nice and weighty and attractive and clean and well designed. And the play is so lifelike that I am happy to have it at eye level in a shelf people get very close to. Really you have to be touching and looking directly at the plant from a foot away to notice that it's not a "real" plant. I've taken a picture of the seaming on the back and stems but I've also found that while there was a little bit of plastic overspill on the stemming I was able to trim most of it off with a little pairing knife and it looks EVEN BETTER. I would say this is very giftable or makes a great decor piece in your own house. I love the colors, I love the weight, I love my new orchid that will actually survive in my house lol. I would get this orchid and pot again and would recommend it to others! ... show more

I've been growing orchids for many years, mainly phalaenopsis varieties. For several years I lived in South Florida where they bloomed year round, but after moving back to Georgia, I have not been able to keep one constantly blooming. I purchased this orchid after reading mixed reviews, so I wasn't overly hopeful, but this artificial orchid exceeded my expectations. It arrived in a giant box, wrapped in bubble wrap, needing barely any rearranging. I bent the leaves very slightly and adjusted one stem, and it looks lovely! No one will tell you that up close it compares to an actual living orchid plant, but it's pretty convincing. The pot is attractive and sturdy, the dirt looks like dirt, the aerial roots look like aerial roots, the flowers look and feel like flowers. Only when you inspect them up close do you see that they look slightly plasticky. The leaves do have obvious plastic veins on the underside, but I'm not staring at that constantly, nor will my guests. From across the room it looks like a living orchid in full bloom with several buds, and healthy leaves. I love it! I would absolutely recommend this for yourself, or as a beautiful gift. ... show more
