I read the instructions and this is my 2nd metal detector so I'm not a complete idiot with this thing, but it's beeping at EVERYTHING, the air, a plastic beach bucket, bugs. I bought this for my 10-year-old grandson for Christmas, and I wish I had read the details more closely and read reviews. Unfortunately, I didn't. The detector is made of a very cheap plastic. When we tried it out after burying a coin only about two inches below our lawn, my grandson couldn't find even though we pointed him to the very spot in which the coin was placed. I take responsibility for the purchase. Upon rereading the description I know the seller was not deceptive in the description. I just did not read thoroughly enough. We live in an older home in an even older neighborhood. We’ve found so many unusual objects as we’re doing yard work or gardening that I’ve started to wonder what we might find if we were more intentional about looking. I ordered this metal detector for my husband (and the kids) to see what we might be walking over each day and then, when the weather permits, try it out at the beach. He helped me with this review by sharing his experience using it. It was easy to set up, with a folded design and a sliding center rod. The arm strap fit well and he was able to position the detector to accommodate his height. My husband is tall (6’4”) and was happy with how comfortable the metal detector felt and how lightweight it is to use. He set the target for A/M (I’m guessing all metals) and used the Pinpoint mode as he was sweeping the ground out near our driveway. He used the recommended sweeping motion at about 3/4” to an inch off the ground. He actually detected and dug up an old piece of aluminum of some sort, nothing of any value but fun to find something nonetheless. It was at roughly 6” depth so he would not have found it without the metal detector. Although it was just a trial run today, it was successful. This metal detector is easy to unfold for use, and fold back into place to fit into its storage bag. It comes with a small folding shovel and headphones. Its small control box has a lighted screen with options that allow you to choose what your target is and to what depth to search. It also has a comprehensive instruction manual. I did note that the control box should not get wet and that the metal detector should not be left in your trunk in sub-freezing weather. If not in use for over a month, the batteries (they were included) should be removed. I mention this because I would have put it in the trunk for Great Lakes visits as well as ocean trips, with a variety of weather conditions, over a few months time. I think this is a convenient and versatile metal detector. We are looking forward to the fun of exploring the world in a completely new way. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. I've always wanted a metal detector and as a child I was gifted with an old used one for Christmas one year. But it never worked. So now this very grown/adult "kid" is very excited to see what we can find! 6 user modes, which includes pin-point mode, and lots of other bells and whistles for sensitivity, detection depth, etc. Folds up nice to store in the provided carry bag, and even comes with a shovel. I made a video to show how it looks and some very basic stuff. Hopefully learn more about using it, and if I'm lucky find something interesting! ... show more

    • Multi featured and easy to use

I am a beginner to metal detection so am only providing my impression on this unit and not in comparison to other detectors. I like that the unit is foldable for compact transport. Setup is easy with push button release/locking. The arm support and coil are extendable, although personally I would prefer if these had notches or position locks, others however may prefer the infinite adjustability. I also found that trying to set the coil angle with the tension screw was difficult as I never seemed to get the bolt tight enough so that the coil angle felt rigid. I was pleased that the instruction manual included was quite detailed and outlined the operation of the detector well. The detector is well balanced and comfortable to use. Due to the weather I have only played with this in the yard and not had an extended time to operate the detector and fine tune the sensitivity. It seems as though the unit is fully featured with a lot of customization features available to the detecting modes. The unit does include some lightweight headphones and a foldable shovel.
