  • Works well for the price
This isn't the most expensive safe. You could easily pay 4x as much for something fancier, but for my home it works really well. It was very easy to set up, put in battery, set lock codes, put shelves where I wanted. It took me only a few minutes. You can have two codes (not sure why) and it comes with keys (also not sure why). It's not super heavy (around 300lbs), but it seems robust and for our home use I think it will be really good. We left it on the palette it was delivered on and just tipped it up and back to remove the packaging from under it. We have it in our garage so don't mind the palette being there and if any water ever gets on the floor this will have it a little higher. Plus, now we don't have to figure out how to get rid of the palette. Overall, pretty happy with this safe. ... show more

  • Great safe if you can spare some protection
This safe is great for the price and fairly bigger than I expected. I really really like it and is heavy enough that one person can not walk out with it. The few drawbacks I faced where in its construction and thickness of steel, they were "good enough." The steel is somewhat "thin" in the sense that it can be attacked and broken into if given probably an hours worth of time. As for the construction, the fire boards wiggle in place and the safe only comes with two bolting screws so theres that. Overall its a great safe for the money, just don't buy it if you expect it to be a unstoppable fortress or else you'll probably have to pay 2-3 times more. It will sure keep your valuables safe to some degree, I strongly suggest this for anyone with a house alarm. Very good safe, thin steel, worth the price! ... show more

  • ... of research before making this purchase and am very happy with it
I did a lot of research before making this purchase and am very happy with it. From the ordering process on Amazon, to the delivery updates and timely delivery, to the condition of the safe on arrival, it was as expected which is excellent. The safe didn't disappoint either, it is sturdy, true to size, provides easy operation, is well built and is certainly heavy enough to ensure one or two potential thieves would have great difficulty removing this safe from my home. I will have to trust the fireproof rating being accurate. Lastly, when considering value vs cost it deserves the 5 star rating I am giving it. ... show more

  • This Company Does Not Deserve Your Business
The safe may or may not be a good one. I have not used it long enough to make a determination. But the way Mesa’s Customer Service works, one star is all they deserve. Below is what my experience was with them. I was pleased with the order and delivery of the Mesa MBF3820E safe I purchased. That was where my satisfaction ended. After unlocking the safe I found that it would not lock. I called Mesa customer service and told them that my brand new safe would not lock. The Service Rep. did not offer to have a tech or a locksmith come out to fix the safe. Instead, he had me take the back panel off of the inside of the door and we did some troubleshooting. Thank God I have some “Handy Man” experience. It was determined that the device that actually does the locking and unlocking (called a Lock Body) was defective. He said that he would ship out a replacement. Two things: 1. When an item is delivered and it is not in working order it is the manufacturer's responsibility to make it right. I did not mind doing the troubleshooting with the Service Rep. but it was not my responsibility to do so. I paid for a fully operational safe and after placing it where I wanted it, I should have had to do nothing else with it. When Mesa was informed that there was a problem with the safe, a technician or locksmith should have been sent out free of charge to make it right. 2. After having waited A WEEK for the Lock Body to come in I emailed the Service Rep. asking where the part was as I had fully expected that it would be shipped Overnight rather that leaving me with a brand new, completely useless safe for a week or more. I was told that according to his order information it should show up that day. The part finally showed two days later. I should have been given the tracking information on the part once it shipped and was not even extended that courtesy. When I mentioned in the email to the Service Rep. that Mesa should have sent out a technician to repair the safe I was told: "We do not have technicians to send out to you, we only send a local locksmith out to you. Which you would need to pay for, we are only able to send parts out under warranty not a locksmith." (emphasis mine). So I pay several hundred dollars for a safe that arrives completely unusable and I have to pay for a locksmith to come out and repair it?? Ridiculous! If I pay for a safe then I have every right to expect that it will be operational when I receive it and if it is not, that the manufacturer will make it operational free of charge as I have already paid for it. I received it defective and if I had not had the where with all to do the work myself I would have been expected to pay the locksmith myself to do so. Well, I replaced the Lock Body myself and so far the safe is working properly. But the way this company operates, if I ever have another problem with it I wouldn’t be the least surprised if they considered my warranty voided as I did the work to repair it myself. Do yourself a favor and spend a little more money to buy from a company who stands behind its product. In my opinion Mesa does not deserve your business. ... show more

  • Lock Mechanism Cheaply Made
The safe is just ok. It broke right out of the box and they had to send a new lock mechanism which I had to put in myself. In my opinion the unit is cheaply made.

  • I'm not sure that it will be water resistant and fire resistant like it claims in this condition
It came missing the part to hide the battery. Also, the door seems fairly loose. I'm not sure how tightly it is supposed to shut but it definitely has some wiggle to it. I'm not sure that it will be water resistant and fire resistant like it claims in this condition.

  • Changing the combination is easy and I've yet to notice any warmth or overheating ...
I've been extremely impressed with this safe thus far. I have the 40" H x 22" D x 22" W. Order was placed on a Thursday and Monday morning I received the delivery phone call. An hour later it was delivered to my garage. The safe opened as expected and there is zero "wiggle gap" in the door as some have complained. The interior is spacious and it does have a power strip on the inside. Changing the combination is easy and I've yet to notice any warmth or overheating from the combination unit. I hope I never have to deal with a fire but I'd be curious to know if this safe would last 2 hours at the documented temps. Overall I'm happy with my purchase. ... show more

  • Best safe at the best price!
A terrific safe! Had a professional locksmith install and he said "no one is getting in this safe!". Great price & product; i checked out a smaller less superior model at a locally local safe store and it was considerably more expensive. The freight savings on this single order paid for my amazon Prime membership and then some! ... show more
