  • Great product for smaller hands or to get into tight spaces
Style: Kit
Makita quality speaks for itself. This compact saw is fantastic! The performance is no different from the full size saw, but my wife can use this one because it is lightweight. Now she can help with trimming branches and odd jobs!

  • Really good 3/4 inch stroke jigsaw.
Style: Bare Tool
Works very good in tight spaces when you need to make "that" cut. It will save you money on damaged/bent blades more than 1-1/4 inch stroke jigsaw would do. 1-1/4 stroke jigsaws cut wood a little faster.

  • Great Saw, Great Makita Tool!
Style: Bare Tool
Have only used this saw to trim some branches in my yard, but seems powerful and cuts great. I have had a great experience with Makita tools and will definitely keep expanding my set.

  • A handful of power
Style: Bare Tool
I am surprised. I expected the subcompact to be small and not built for heavy duty cutting. I was wrong. It is shorter in length. But the power and heft of the tool all runs fro the grip handle to the front . Use the 4 inch blade for close in cutting, but 6 inch and 9 inch blade work great for everything else.. The weight and weight distribution takes some getting used to, but once you do it it’s a handful of power. I’d use 2 hands to steady it though. Great tool. ... show more

  • Great tool
Style: Bare Tool
For a long time, I have been a Dewalt user. I do have some other brands of chorded tools because the chord makes it much easier to stray. Chordless tools are a different question though, I have so much invested it’s hard to even think about changing. This fall however when I started looking at the DEWALT drywall sander, and discovered Makita’s sander came with a bag and at that time included 4 5ah batteries and the makita cut-out saw and kept $100 in my pocket...well i jumped. I finally had the occasion where i needed the compact sawzall and the extra batteries gave me the chance to look at the makita in addition to the DEWALT DCS367. After considering both saws, I decided on the Makita equivalent (it’s going to make me years to understand their item numbering system). While I saw some reviews that indicated the DEWALT was better, the abundance of data indicated the makita was better. Ultimately, it was the shorter stroke length that made me choose the makita. How many times do you get in a really tight spot and there is something right behind where you are cutting - you can end up bending the blade which makes a straight cut harder, but if the bend gets in the cut things can go cattywanpus quick. I have loved the tool and it has gotten much use. It’s funny sometimes I feel disloyal, other other times I feel more open minded - my sons might tell you otherwise though. I will say that while I have the DEWALT 4 port rapid charger which is awesome, with the single chargers makita is hands down better. The chargers provide information that DEWALT never thought about. ... show more

Excellent tool. I bought this for a basement renovation project... I already have a pretty good corded "sawzall" but cords are a mess. This was the first tool I bought to enter the Makita 18v system. These new super compact brushless tools are freakin' great, corded power at a 12v tool size, basically. Using both the included wood cutting and metal cutting blade, I was able to effortlessly chop and snip through each of the aforementioned materials without drama or hassle. Regarding the blades, it's not easy to find the short blades in store, and it seems you'll actually pay a premium for blades that are this size, so keep that in mind. Using a large (normal) blade works fine too, but the shortness of the tool combined with the little blades opens this up to tasks that would be impossible for a full sized saw. The oversized rubberized grip on the front of the tool is much like that of a "hood" on a road bikes shifter/brake, and with enough use will begin to come lose and kinda need to be kneaded back into place. The front foot/stop is not adjustable. You can remove the bolt that holds it to the big aluminum bulkhead, but you cannot set the depth to anything other than the one setting, which may or may not be an issue. To me, the rotational rubberized handle that's turned to release the blade is backwards, requiring that the knob be turned clockwise to release the blade. Not a biggie but it's one more micro nuisance. Once the blade is in there, it stays there. Even my big plug in PorterCable will occasionally lose grip of a blade. Have not had it happen yet, but it could be because this tool doesn't have quite as much sheer power. Battery life is very good. I was able to cut through a pretty good pile of wood and paneling on a single charge; a 4 Ah battery suits this tool very well, and a 2 Ah will be fine if you need to get every last bit of compactness. I'll probably never need to use my corded recip. saw ever again, after purchasing this. ... show more

  • Not A Jigsaw
Style: Bare Tool
A tough very heavy beast despite compact size so extremely high value. But truly poor at precise work because the light is on top away from the cutting action on the bottom. That makes it way too hard to follow a chalk line.
