At full brightness It provides 3, 000 lumens of light, and 750 lumens on low mode. Adjusting knobs enable the user to direct the light to the desired angle. The work light can be mounted on an optional tripod stand (SOLD Separately). dust and water-resistant construction (IP65 rated) for improved operation in harsh job site conditions. it’s part of Makita’s expanding 18V LXT system, the world’s largest cordless tool system powered by 18V Lithium-Ion slide-style batteries. Makita 18V LXT Lithium-Ion batteries have the fastest charge times in their categories, so they spend more time working and less time sitting on the charger. My initial impression is high quality but bulky. I'm a little concerned the lense could be damaged easily as there is no guarding. However, I found the diffuser gives it some added protection and it helps distribute the light. The versatility of having a battery or power cord option is nice. I'd love to see this light have the ability to charge the battery and a USB ports to charge a cell phone on the job. As I was looking for a good place to store the light, I found installing a hook to the wall it makes an amazing light for the work bench. As far as size, it's much larger than other work lights. You won't have to worry about this thing getting knocked over. I wouldn't recommend putting this on a tripod especially with a battery. It would be extremely top heavy. It may be hard to see how bright the light is in the photo but it is bright especially if you take it into a large area. It had no problem illuminating a good portion of my backyard. Built like a brick and plenty bright. These are a bit bigger than the previous model Makita light of this style but at least 3x as bright. One of the best features is that a single led will stay illuminated when the battery its almost dead so you are not left blind without warning. It feels as if it could take a huge tumble down the road and be just fine. ... show more

I have several other Makita battery powered tools and a couple of corded ones, so when I looked for a battery work light there was no choice, it had to be a Makita for battery compatibility. The reviews on the cheapest model were not real good, and the top model was terribly expensive so I settled on this one, which is very bright (and has three levels of brightness) and a long battery life, four hours or more on high. It also has a cord so it can be plugged into a wall outlet, but I have not used that feature. I have used this both in my workshop and in my house when doing projects and have been impressed with the brightness and the white light color (thankfully not bluish, i hate that). ... show more

Pros: Uses Makita batteries you already have (I am assuming that this is why you would buy it). Light is bright and covers a lot of area just like you would expect from a work light. No cord to get tangled around car parts or building materials. My best use is when you just need the work light but don't want to break out the extension cord for a 5 minute job. Cons: A bit heavier than a standard plug in light, but it is built like a tank. The base doesn't unscrew from the light. I assumed it did with the two screws on each side but they are for adjusting the angle, not breaking it down. Sometimes, if you have two people, you have one person holding the light and it would be easier and lighter without the base. ... show more

I’m a Makita fan. I have lots of 18v tools. I bought this light and wasn’t really happy with the brightness. I have another light that is compatible with different batteries; makita, porter cable, Dewalt, ryobi, and another brand. Has DC cord as well. I also purchased it on Amazon. That light is brighter than this Makita. I felt is was too big, (beefy looking) for the lack of brightness. Kinda felt left down. There is another model similar to this one for about $100 more. If you use Makita tools, you know how well they work. If you don't, I'm still willing to tell you about this light. Because I care. If you need a bright light that lights up an area, get this product. It's bright, casts a lot of light, better than decent battery life, and is a little heavy. I like that. It won't move. I didn't buy their stand. I bought a Coleman lantern stand that goes up to 8' and has a base that you can make wider or more narrow. Plus, less than $50, so there's that. ... show more
