  • Power and Size for My Shop
Style: Table Saw Only
I absolutely love this saw. It has great power and can rip it's full 3 5/8" cutting depth. I knew I'd be building a table saw cart and setting my router into the extension table, so I'm really pleased with the large cast aluminum table (though it scratches fairly easily if you're not careful) and overall size. I wanted a smallish but powerful saw that provided oportunity for mobility and serving multiple functions and the Makita fits the bill. The fence is not great, but as a general novice I tend to check everything more than once. It's generally consistent and I developed a little wiggle/push-pull technique that seems to seat it consistently in no time. I like that the fence is pre-bored for thru-bolts as I further customize with sleds and sliding jigs for the router side. As you can see in the images, I got the kreg insert plate and it houses my bosch kit in a nice compact area. Dust collection will be part of my fence jig. Anyway, I'm really happy with it and planned my purchase carefully to suit my needs. Rec'd. ... show more

  • and I like that older model much better
Style: Table Saw Only
I am a professional carpenter and contractor with 25 years of experience. I have owned several table saws over the years and this one is ok so far. I did have to return the first one I ordered because the extension table was not level with the main table top, and there is no adjusting that. I called Makita and they told me there was no fix for that and I would need to order a new one, which I did. I have yet to see how long it will last. I also own a 10 year old Makita 2703 table saw, and I like that older model much better. The older one is much more compact and light. The older one has a serrated table top to reduce friction when pushing wood through it, and I have yet to bog down the motor or wear it out. I would not consider using either of these saws without the Rousseau table saw stand and fence system available for each saw. ... show more

  • Very good contractor saw
Style: Table Saw Only
I'm a highly skilled carpenter and use a table saw everyday just about from ripping everything from black walnut , poplar, mahgony, oak to azek. I always use a feather board and rigid out feed tables . I always use a high quality blade and would never use the stock blade for anything but cutting 2 by lumber. That said the Makita 2705 and the Bosch 4100 table saws are the best on the market for contractor saws and they both can produce high quality furniture grade pcs. when paired with my festool sanders and occasionally a bench planer . And when I see negative reviews on these 2 table saws and not one but two blown motors then I gotta say maybe it's not the tool because I've been using both of them for 5-6 years everyday and never had a single problem that I couldn't fix in a minute with some spray lubricant on the guides that do get sluggish once in awhile from all the dust but I do use a 20v blower or air nozzle at the end of each work day before I put them back in my truck. So it's either misuse or never cleaning the thing thats probably why there would ever be a problem with this saw . Otherwise Makita 2705 or my favorite by a little bit Bosch 4100 . ... show more

  • makita makes solid products but...
Style: Table Saw Only
So I bought this from reviews and research that it was one of the most accurate job site tables out there. Since it was going to be permanently mounted to a table, it was big and sturdy. Also, it was supposed to be the most accurate. So let me start by stating the issues I've had over the past month. had issues with the fence adjustment. I was able to align it with the blade but was having problems with it being perpendicular with the table. With calling technical support (by the way very helpful) found out I will need a replacement fence as mine is warped/bent. Second, the blade is not parallel with the miter slides so having a good cross cut sled is out of the question. I now have to take it to a service center and drop it off for a repair since i'm beyond my 30 day return window. Supposedly only they can make this adjustment. Third, the measuring tape put on the fence rails is about 1/8" off and useless due to that. lastly the riving knife was not set in alignment with the blade so that has to be adjusted as well. Overall I like the saw, just wish it was accurate out of the box like its supposed to be. and the Miter slide is junk and really loose in the table slides. If you want one you will have to make a sled or buy a good one with the adjustments for the table slides. BTW the customer service said that they would send me a new fence and tape but to get the blade aligned I will have to take it for service and at that point they can do all 3 things that I need. update: so i took it to the service center to get it aligned and figure out what's going on. the returned it and said it was good to go. i got it home and the blade was still not aligned with the miter slot and the fence is not 90deg with the table. i ended up taking it apart and sloting some holes and aligning it myself. so disappointed. the felt so bad when i called them back saying it was still wrong that they drove over an hour to my house to drop off a new fence and to see what i was talking about. anyways, the fence still sucks so i bolted a extruded aluminum piece to it and shimmed until i got it 90 degrees. great saw once its tuned but i would still like a better fence in the future. guess i will have to upgrade to a contractor grade or cabinet saw for that. Lastly i found that the table had a hump in it near the blade insert. had to use a hammer and board to knock it down some then use sand paper on a straight edge to fine tune it level. For all this i knocked it down to 2 stars. ... show more
