  • Rarely works, very poor quality prints
I've spent hours with Makerbot tech support trying random things to fix this but the bottom line is it rarely works and jams frequently. They have sent me a new extruder but the problems still persist. All of the settings are default. The printer is level and calibrated. They had me level and calibrate 3 times in a row but the results speak for themselves. ... show more

  • Great 3D printer
The printer calibrates easily, I would recommend anyone getting this one to get the Makerbot Experimental head as one to swap in if you have filament already that isnt Makerbot brand. Every print is perfect quality so far.

  • Wont dual color print
If you are looking to dual color print look elsewhere, I bought one thinking I could make dual color prints for coasters and other office swag but it is not capable.

  • Avoid at all cost
This is an overpriced and under engineered printer. All aspects of the printer are proprietary- replacing the nozzle and ptfe tube will set you back $70.00. Extruder uses plastic gearing and costs $350.00. They recommend extruder replacement after 800 hours of printing. Filament will set you back $65.00 and you are limited to red, orange, white or black for pla. You have to use their slicing software and it is awful! Although it technically is a 2 extruder machine, one of the extruders is permanently dedicated to printing supports . ... show more

  • Material Must be dry and chamber temps kept at 90-92 when printing
Being brand new to 3D printing - the first prints were a bit off, but this was due to not understanding 3D printing. This is not your point and click desktop inkjet printer. 1. Material must be DRY as in use the dehydration to dry it out 2. The material jams is moisture combined with an old extrude with many mm of materials. 3. The MakerBot Method has an enclosed chamber to maintain even temps over the entire build. 4. MakerBot print with camera is nice to view when not in office and ability to pause print until you return t remedy. Price / Performance and Quality are all pluses CONs - Small build plate volume - Take a long tome to print accurately Pics above is carbon fiber and a finished product prototype in Black ABS ... show more

  • I'd rather get Covid than get this printer
This printer cost me so much time that I'll never get back. Though filament jams, faulty sensors, and misprints I've decided its not worth it. You can see for yourself in the pictures. They are also very proprietary. You have to use their support material and you can not reload spools with other filament. Buy something else. ... show more

  • One star is too many
For every 1 successful print, this has failed 6. The "successful" print quality is absolutely deplorable on top of this. Their customer service is unequivocally the worst I've ever dealt with. An absolute disgrace at the highest order.
