The 3Doodler pen is highly praised as a fun and creative tool for kids, receiving consistent high ratings for its user-friendly design, safety features, and ability to spark children's imagination. But it's not only good for enjoyment, kids find it to also improve their concentration. However, some users experienced occasional jamming and insulted the pen as overpriced.

Pros

  • 🌟 Easy to use and suitable for children of various ages.
  • 🌟 Safe for kids with low heat feature and non-toxic filaments.
  • 🌟 Boosts creativity and keeps kids engaged for long hours.
  • 🌟 Lightweight and cordless, practical for free movement.

Cons

  • 👎 Recurrent issues with filaments getting jammed.
  • 👎 Viewed by some users as overpriced.
  • 👎 Can only use specific type of filaments from the manufacturer.

Should I Buy It?

If you are hunting for a unique, engaging and creative tool for your kids or for educational purposes – and aren't overly concerned about the price tag – the 3Doodler Pen is well worth considering. It does require a certain level of care when handling the filaments, yet its capacity to spark creativity and hold kids' attention makes it a stand-out choice.

  • Such a great gift idea!
Style: 3D Pen Set
I bought this for my 11 year old child who has the mind of a creative maker! He has had nothing but great things to say about this product! He has been making so many fun items and loves the idea sheets that come with the kit. This is a great quality item for a great gifting price. The design is great and such a cool concept. I highly recommend buying for the creative type person in your life! ... show more

  • So much fun!
Style: 3D Pen Set
We got this for my son for Christmas. He loves it!! It is super easy to use and charges relatively quickly. It's small enough for his hand to be able to hold and control. We had a small issue and I needed to reach out to the manufacturer and they were also super helpful and addressed my concerns promptly and eagerly. Definitely recommend!! ... show more

  • Great kit my daughter loves
Style: 3D Pen Set
My daughter thought this pen was so much fun! I got the used-like new one and it had a problem where the motor didn’t work. Heater was fine. Ended up using my spudger, opening the white case, and noticed the motor wasn’t plugged in the socket on the pcb, which maybe was why it was returned. Plugged it in and we were in business! ... show more

  • Best Beginner Pen!
Style: 3D Pen Set
One of my kids has the 3D Doodler, the other has the Scrib3d JR. The Doodler is far superior. It is easy to use and doesn’t jam. It’s witless and has short filament sticks, so there are no tangles. My daughter has used her Doodler her a year without adult intervention or maintenance. The Scrib3d Junior is USB-C, but every other aspect is inferior. It’s too large and the spools of filament are unwieldy. We immediately had a jam and struggled to feed new filament. By the time a parent gets it fixed, the kid is already playing with something else. ... show more

  • Fun Gift
Style: 3D Pen Set
Bought for my 6 year old. It is a little challenging for him but he is still able to make things on his own. It’s a neat item, reminds me of a glue gun. I like that it offers a different way to be creative and gets my child to thing about art and building in a different way.

  • It works!
Style: 3D Pen Set
My 9yr old really enjoys this item. He has already made several things that are pictured, and I even enjoyed making the butterfly. Only downside is that I had to already buy more colors because the amount that comes in this kit didn’t last us long. **Just a heads up… when you want to change colors, click the large button on the device twice and the colored stick will reverse out BUT when the new color is in, there will still be some of your old color inside. For example, I was using yellow and wanted to switch to blue. I reversed the yellow stick out (click twice to move stick backwards) and started the blue (click once to move stick forward) and some yellow still came out and started spewing out green because the yellow was mixing with the blue. I let that color combo exit on a napkin before putting the blue on my butterfly. ... show more

  • Super fun for the whole family!
Style: 3D Pen Set
Super fun toy, love that it charges and doesn’t need batteries. My sons 10 and 6 love it, we’ve done multiple projects together. Pretty easy to use, and once you get the hang of it you can work on making some pretty intricate stuff. Definitely recommend purchasing a case so you can keep all of the color sticks, stencils and toy in one place. ... show more

  • Nice concept. Crazy expensive filament and battery always has to be recharged
Style: 3D Pen Set
I love the concept of this pen however in practice it was underwhelming. First of all, the filament does NOT go very far. Each 'project' in the booklet required numerous sticks of filament. The 70 sticks of filament included in this kit were not enough to really make much. If I hadn't bought the added 250 pack of filament my child wouldn't have been able to make much at all. The robot shown on the box IS actually a project however it took DOZENS of sticks of filamentfor my child to make it (but it was all rainbow colored because there was not enough of any one color to make it as shown. NOTE: Note each stick ends up costing between 12 and 22 cents (!). That means the robot 'sculpture' my child made required around $10 of filament. :( Pros: low temperature extrusion means that materials can be touched prior to hardening and won't burn little hands. Cons: 1. Expensive to use. Each stick of filament does not go far at all and replacements are expensive. Every little project seems to use at least a half dozen sticks of filament to several dozen. On average, I believe that we're spending ~$5 of filament every time that this pen gets used. 2. Plastic extrusion is very soft and hardens slowly so it is very difficult to make anything 3D. Instead, the best approach is to 'draw' pieces of something on a flat surface and then assemble them. 3. It gets jammed up periodically. We have only ever used official name-brand filament but the pen still seems to get plugged up and stop extruding periodically. With 20+ minutes of fiddling I have been able to coax it back to functioning each time so far but the motor sounds like it is lugging more after each jam. Fingers crossed that I it will last until the next birthday when my child will get a different 3D pen. B ... show more
