Top Amazon Reviews

  • FAST, dependable, easy, huge
The Qidi xplus 3 is a huge 3d printer. It has a larger print area than most printers. I’ve had great results from my other Qidi 3d printers. This xplus 3 is excellent. I’ve been printing nonstop since it arrived. This is an excellent printer if you want to print larger items or exotic engineering grade filaments. Pros: Huge print area FAST User friendly Removable print plate is excellent Huge variety of materials Easy for beginners Dependable and repeatable Great free slicer (Qidi slicer) customized to this unit Email contact for any questions Enclosure Heated chamber Included dry box Includes two hotends Assisted bed leveling Touch screen Built in light Fans operate automatically Cons: Unit is very large It’s heavy. My wife wasn’t able to bring the package inside by herself. It’s hard to find something comparable in the same price range. I have a few Prusa mk4 units. This Qidi is faster and much larger. I purchased a Qidi xsmart 3 when it was released. That has been an amazing printer. This xplus 3 has been just as reliable while providing much larger prints. Print size: I printed a 10” diameter bowl without any lifting or print issues. Most larger printers struggle to print near the edges. This machine handled it like a champ. I look forward to printing larger holiday decorations. I plan to make a giant candy cauldron for halloween. It’s incredible to have a dependable HUGE print area. I haven’t seen anything come close to this. Bed plate: The removable magnetic print sheet is excellent. It’s the same quality one used on my xsmart 3. It’s a thick textured pei that works for pla, abs and petg without the need for glue sticks. That might not seem like as big of a pro as it is. Printing sheets are expensive, and glue is messy. This is a one and done sheet. You don’t need to fuss with different sheet profiles either. The bed plate has notches so you can align it perfectly every time. Enclosure: Keeps hands away. If you have kids or pets, the enclosure is a great benefit. The chamber is heated too, so you can print the engineering grade filaments. There is a rear case fan and a giant part cooling fan. Top cover has notches that fit into the top case. I like this more than the magnetic tops. The printer will tell you if you need to remove the top cover before printing. It seems silly, but it’s extremely helpful. User interface: It’s a touchscreen and easy to read. The unit has an auto load and unload. You get both icons and text. It’s well thought out and intuitive. The are NO bed leveling knobs to fuss with. The unit has a bed leveling sensor and walks you though setting z offset. Every printer should have this feature. Qidi slicer: You can download profiles for a variety of slicers on the Qidi website. Cura, orca, prusaslicer, etc. I recommend the Qidi slicer. It’s quick to open, easy to use and slices well. You get an image preview on the printer itself. The preview will show print time and material next to the image. Qidi slicer is based on prusaslicer. I’m extremely familiar with prusaslicer. It’s the easiest slicer I’ve personally used. Qidi continually updates the slicer profiles. This lets you skip fine tuning it yourself. I consider this one of the best benefits. You can slice and hit print. No fuss. Speeds: This is FAST. It’s faster than my long awaited mk4 units. Last Halloween I printed a cauldron that took a day and a half on my prusa. I had to reprint it multiple times after various failures. I printed a gigantic bowl this weekend and it took only 8 hours. Standard 6-8 hour prints are coming in at about 2 hours on this Qidi. I printed some engineering items for work. 2 hours, 10 mins. This would have taken a full day at lower quality on my printer at work. I look forward to printing ultra high quality items. Print time is no longer a deterrent. Materials: This can print more materials than any other printer I own or have ever used. I’ve had over a dozen 3d printers in recent years. This has a full enclosure, heated chamber, various fans, dry box, copper plated nozzle and a hardened steel nozzle. Pla, abs, petg, nylon, engineering blends, you name it. Help: Each Qidi printer has a dedicated email address for support. They will help answer questions and solve problems. It’s like having a personalized helper. This helped me a lot with my first 3d printer. I still email them years later when I need help. There are times when you know what’s wrong, but can’t figure out how to word it for a google search. Qidi let’s you skip that. They send videos back and have pdf guides with pictures too. It’s a turnkey experience. Build quality: This is built like a tank. Qidi uses high quality components. This is a workhorse printer that requires very little maintenance. Print quality: I put this through its paces with large items that have lots of retractions. It handled it like a champ. I had low stringing and excellent results. I haven’t printed abs with it yet. My other Qidi xsmart3 isn’t heated, and prints abs very well. I expect this to be just as good if not better. Final thoughts: This is a large printer. You can print giant stuff. You can also print regular sized items. It will handle the exotic filaments just as well as regular pla. I have two Qidi xsmart3 printers. Those are tiny compared to this. I still consider the xsmart 3 as the best low cost entry level printer. This xplus 3 has the heated chamber and gigantic print volume. If this fits in your budget and you would benefit from the print size or wider material options, you can’t go wrong with this. I’ll keep updating this review as time goes on. It’s an expensive purchase. My other Qidi printers have been excellent and this one has been just as good so far. ... show more

  • I Like The Plus 4 So Much, I Bought A Second One
Size: 01 PLUS4
I have previous experience with QIDI printers (X-CF Pro) and their tech support is very good. I started my 3D printing journey with a Taz Lulzbot Mini. So, I have a little knowledge and expectations for my 3d printers at this point. Looking to have the capability to print the newest hottest printing filament, have a heated chamber and gain speed and 3D print size/volume, the QIDI Plus 4 caught my eye. After hours of watching review videos and weighing the pros and cons, I ordered my first QIDI Plus 4. Fully aware that this is a newly released printer, a couple of issues had already been found by early reviewers and QIDI had either updated firmware or provided instructions to make corrections/fixes. My first Plus 4 arrived in about 10 days and I immediately setup the printer and one of the first things that you really must do is download the newest firmware onto the included USB drive, from the QIDITech website, and update the printer's firmware through the touch screen menu, selecting 'Set', 'Check for updates', 'Offline Update'. I have many successful prints and well over 100 hours on the first printer, with various filaments (ASA, ABS-GF, PA12-CF, PLA+). The only filament issue I had, was when unloading/loading between filaments, I selected the incorrect, too low of a temp, for the filament that the printer cut off and was about to extrude out of the drive gears. The lower temp caused the filament stub to hang in the nozzle and drive gears. Two small hex bolts hold the hot-end on the printer head. With the bolts and hot-end removed, it was easy to pull the stub of 'cold' filament down and out of the way and back to loading new filament and printing. Lesson learned ... be sure you select the correct temperature for the nozzle to be plenty hot enough to extrude out the remainder of the old filament stub. One of the first print jobs was the 'Poop Chute', to catch the purge filament that ejects out the back of the printer. Close to a 8 hour print job and I printed in Polymaker PLA Pro. Flawless print quality for this large-ish print. The longest print job so far was 24 and 1/2 hours of some large cable organizing trays. I printed them in PA12-CF, for strengh. Probably overkill, but might hang heavier items in the trays in the future? Again, impeccable print quality. So, with over 100 hours of pretty much trouble-free printing, I continued to watch for more experiences of other new owners. Mostly positive, with a few early adopter issues, as we can expect. I was having so much fun with the Plus 4, that I decided to buy a second one. The second printer came in only about a week. I already knew the new Plus 4 setup routine and took much less time getting up and going the second time around. After updating the firmware to the newest, I attempted to heat the print bed, before running auto bed leveling and input shaping. As soon I select the temp to heat the bead, the printer shut down. Powered the printer back on and repeated the process, with same shut down results. I had already seen some reviews and new owners, with this issue. Some printers are shipped with the power supply switched for 230V-240V operation, even with a sticker beside the power switch, that says, 'The input power of the machine is 100V-130V'. You cannot always believe what you read. Tipping the printer up on the side with the power switch, you can see the red slide switch on the power supply to switch it to 100V-130V operation. No shut downs after make the change. NOTE: My first Plus 4 never had to be switched, so you milage may vary. Just be aware that you might have to toggle the little switch. Just finished the 'Poop Chute' on the second Plus 4, again in just under 8 hours. This time I printed in ABS-GF and same amazing quality of print, just like the first Plus 4. I had looked closely at the Bambu Lab printers, especially with the multi color filament option (AMU). QIDI has announced their own AMU, for the Plus 4 and possibly other recent QIDI models, that should be out in first quarter 2025. I figured I could wait and get familiar with the Plus 4's capabilities and any quirks in the mean time. The speed, heated chamber, print size/volume and ability to print the most extreme heat filaments and already being familiar with QIDI, eased my decision making. Oh, and did I forget to mention price? Seems to be a very good value for the price. Of course time will tell. So, I am very happy, so far, with both printers. My previous interactions with QIDI tech support has always been positive. They have always been easy to work with, for me. ... show more
