I’ve been using this IPL for about 3 weeks. I had a different IPL that just suddenly stopped working, so I switched to this one about a month in to regular use. It’s been almost 2 months of using and I still have to shave my underarms. I was hoping to see more results by now. The device itself is easy to work, but takes some getting used to. I hated it at first because the flash freaked me out and I felt a bit of sting with each light pulse. The more you use it, the more you get used to the sensation, and it doesn’t bother me anymore. I try to use it after my shower twice weekly. This IPL feels exactly the same as my old one that didn’t have “ice cooling”… so not convinced that feature is noticeable. I hope to start seeing better results in time, but I’m starting to think my hair might not be the right shade or thickness to make this device as effective. ... show more

You can find a huge number of IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) hair removal devices on Amazon. Options started as a trickle, then came a deluge of different models, colors, and shapes. But the secret is that almost all of these are the same inside and are made in a handful of factories. With a few notable exceptions, the features are the same, the controls are the same, etc. So mostly, it comes down to a few, limited, differentiating factors: ** Does the IPL offer "ICE" active cooling ** Does the IPL offer additional filters/modes for different effects ** Does the IPL offer unusual and useful ergonomic features ** What kind of power does the IPL use (higher power should translate into better performance). Power levels are typically in the range of 18W-60W. Higher is better. This is a moderately-priced unit that adds ICE Cooling functionality and is surprisingly small, but still is more powerful than many (48W). Specifics of this IPL device: ** Only performs hair removal ** Includes ICE skin cooling functionality ** LCD screen shows the number of flashes left and power level (1-5), plus whether ICE auto auto modes are on/off ** Rated for 48W (Medium/High) ** Unusually small IPL device, travel friendly and good for those who have trouble holding large items ** Rated for 999,999 flashes Using very slow-motion photography, I was able to capture a snapshot of the light (see photos). But the light duration is extremely short. You run the tool over the area where you want to remove hair and make sure you expose all the hair follicles in that region. You will not see any immediate results. The light signals your hair to stop growing, but it requires multiple treatments over several weeks before you will be expected to see results. Eventually, you should find a substantial reduction in the hair in the treated areas. In the box, you get the tool, a power cord, a pair of eye protection glasses, a cheap disposible razor, plus instructions. Ice functionality is another term for "Local epidermal cooling." This is local cooling of the epidermal region (surface skin) in the region where the IPL light pulse is being applied. The high-powered light can be irritating to some people, and cooling the skin in that region can reduce the immediate irritation. (It does not improve/decrease efficacy of the treatment). This IPL is reaonably priced and adds the "ICE" cooling functionality. It's also shorter than most of the many IPL devices I have evaluated, and would be preferable for travel on that account. Note that while it's short, it's somehwat more chubby than many, and those with small hands may find it uncomfortable to hold. Summary: Pros: ** Unusually short device will appeal to those who want an IPL device that is easier to pack ** Integrates epidermal cooling (ICE) ** LCD readout ** 48W power supply ** Reasonably priced for an IPL that includes ICE and higher power supply Cons: ** This IPL is pretty chubby and may not feel comfortable if you have small hands Note that this same IPL is sold under various brands on Amazon.     • Easy to hold
This was a little bit complicated to use but once you get the hang of it, it becomes easier. I love that it comes with directions and pictures so I can easily figure out what to do. I do wish they made this cordless, as the cord makes it less portable. Overall, I am looking forward to getting good results and have high hopes! It does not hurt and I have sensitive skin. It’s pretty good! Easy to hold in your hand and it’s easy to work, still learning curve to it since I’ve never used one before but this one I’ve used a handful of times and there is a learning curve to it and you have to be patient I’m excited to see how it’s going to continue to work

This IPL Hair Removal Device is compact and easy to hold. It has five different levels and can be used in auto or manual mode. The LCD display is easy to see and shows what power level you are on, how many flashes are left, and if the ICE is on or off. For weeks 1 to 4, you would use this twice per week. Then from weeks 5-8, you would use once a week. Afterwards, for maintenance, you will only need to use once every month or two. This device arrived in a shrink wrapped box and contains the IPL tool, power cord, Sunglasses, disposable razor, and instructions. This machine is 48w and is made in China. It really works well as reducing unwanted hair as long as you are consistent. The ICE feature is a great feature on this as it will cool down the skin quickly. So far I haven’t seen a lot of progress with this but I plan to update periodically. I have fair skin and red hair, so I’m not the perfect candidate for laser hair removal, however I have darker hair in my underarm and bikini area which are the two places I’ve started to treat. I have not yet seen result with the use of this product. It could be because I don't use it consistently enough. It could also be because my hair is too light. I wish this product listed more clearly what type of hair it was for on the amazon page rather than just on the package when you get it. Basically, if your a fair-haired, fair-skin person you are out of luck with this. The machine itself is nice and small and easy to use.
