Description

LUBEGARD AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID (ATF) PROTECTANT is for use in all automatic transmissions and manuals requiring an ATF, including heavy duty transmissions, such as Allison. Use with all synthetic or mineral based DEXRON, MERCON & OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturers) ATF’s (except Ford Type F ATF & CVT applications). Lubegard controls heat and is especially effective in today’s hotter running front wheel drive vehicles. It contains LXE (Liquid Wax Ester) Technology and their derivatives, base oils and conventional additives. Lubegard is designed to raise the thermal and oxidative stability level of automatic transmission fluids, so when it operates at elevated temperatures, it does not thin out and pyrolize, burn or react with oxygen and form deposits. The use of LUBEGARD ATF Protectant will not cause clutch friction upset or slippage. DIRECTIONS FOR USE: For normal applications, add 1 oz. (29. 6 mL) per quart (Liter) of ATF to the total transmission capacity (including torque converter) with motor idling in park. Do not overfill.

  • Seems to work well.
Size: 10 oz.
I got this for my wifey's 2007 Hyundai Tiburon and installed it during a transmission fluid flush and fill at around 80,000 miles. I haven't noticed anything adverse from using this product. My wifey says her transmission feels really nice and the gear changes feel really smooth. Since I installed both this and some fresh transmission fluid at the same time, I don't know if this additive is really doing its thing or not. Either way, since it doesn't appear to be doing any harm, I'm okay and happy with it for now. ... show more

  • Great stuff
Size: 10 oz.
I recently siphoned out the majority of my 07' Accord"s trans fluid @ 180k miles. Added Valvoline Maxlife ATF and a few ounces of this. Car runs and drives MUCH smoother, hardly any gas needed to cruise. I checked the fluid after a 25 min drive and the trans fluid wasn't even WARM 😳

  • Got rid of 1-2 shift shudder
Size: 10 oz.
We had my 2007 Sienna fully loaded with four big adults and three kids. Please note that the history of this van was well maintained by Toyota but may have done lots of short tripping or what not causing build up in the transmission. Anyway, on a hill I noticed the 1-2 shift had a shudder. I had read up and no one else I could find had experienced this. Without the car loaded and under light throttle, it was there. Hard acceleration would make it go away but light throttle, it just had this annoying shudder. Researched turned me to a product called "Lubguard", specifically the red additive and the product I am reviewing here. Now I, as a rule, hate additives. I checked "Bobistheoilguy" as well as some other places and, at a minimum, found proof that if nothing else it wouldn't hurt the transmission. With that, tonight I loosened the drain plug, let 10oz run out, then tightened it up and dumped the 10oz bottle of this stuff in. I then drove the van, which has 130K on it, around the town for 10 minutes. The shudder is gone. Oh, and it may be a placebo effect but it seems the other gears, which were not bad at all, are shifting even smoother. So, this is my uncompensated endorsement of this product. I am as surprised as anyone. I am considering putting some in my wife's Mazda just for the hell of it. It's cheap and it works. ... show more

  • Works great
Size: 10 oz.
Use this in my wife's Honda CR-V as a protectant against heat buildup, as Honda (to save weight) uses the least amount of ATF to do the job. Honda's engineering design overworks ATF and causes heat buildup. This additive reduces heat buildup and allows for smooth shifting. To the negative reviews, this is an additive that helps reduce heat and clean sludge. It is not a transmission rebuild. Transmissions have a service life, and if abused or neglected, have a shorter lifespan. Putting this additive is a worn or damaged transmission will not fix your problem. ... show more

  • Makes an old transmission feel like new.
Size: 10 oz.
Let’s get one thing clear, if your transmission is broken or damaged and in need of repair, this product is not going to fix that issue. If your vehicle is high mileage and you’d like to help the fluid out. I have found this product to do excellent. I’ve used this on three vehicles over 200,000 miles where the transmission was not damaged but it was just a little long in the tooth. After I did a drain and Phil where I change out a handful of courts and I add lube, guard, the Transmission shifts like new and makes for a much more pleasant experience. In my experience, Lubeguard breathe new life into high mileage transmissions, and I’m happy to recommend it. ... show more

  • Researched, then went for it
Size: 10 oz.
I have a 2016 Honda Odyssey that had, what Honda calls, a jutter. After some research, I discovered that this model requires the transmission fluid be changed every 30k miles. This vehicle has 53k miles and I'm the only owner. We had used the van to tow a pop-up camper for a few trips for a few summers, but otherwise not many miles or hard driving. I called Honda to get an idea on costs for drain and fill and it was cost prohibitive to me so I thought I would go this route first. While researching the jutter issue on forums, this product came up so I dug in to find out more. I fretted on whether this would be detrimental or if this would actually help. I am not a mechanic, but feel comfortable changing the oil, and after watching you tube videos determined this was no different than changing the oil. After draining the fluid and adding this stuff and the Honda recommended transmission fluid, I took the van out for long drive and noticed the issue was barely there afterwards. I plan on continuing with the drain and fill regimen and will do at least 2, if not 3, more times (at 500 mile intervals) to clear out the rest of the old fluid. On the 3rd cycle I'll add one more bottle of this stuff. I am pleased so far. ... show more

  • Seems to have worked so far
Size: 10 oz.
Our 2010 GX460 was downshifting on acceleration pretty hard. I did a drain and fill, adding this lubeguard product, hoping for the best. Between the new trans fluid and this additive, the hard shifts are now gone. We have put a couple of hundred miles on it and all is good so far. This is definitely worth a shot! ... show more
