I loved everything about this product. It arrived in a pretty, well-packed box and the tostonera itself is beautiful. It is sturdy and well-made. The grippy side made sure that it didn't slide around the counter when I was using it, which made making smashing the tostones super easy. Our kids were able to help out too, which they loved. Cleaned up really easily when we were done using it. I've been a huge fan of Loisa's spices and seasonings for a long time (I use their sofrito, sazon and adobo weekly, and their cinnamon whenever I bake), so I was really pleased to see that their kitchen tools are such high quality as well. The media could not be loaded. While the price may seem like a head scratcher. It’s totally worth every penny! I placed my order and received it the next day! They come in different colors and I picked the orange one! I thought the different color selections were for decorations but no, it’s a rubber mat material so that it doesn’t slip off the counter when you’re smashing away!! Growing up, tostones were always such a tedious task, but I literally did 2 plantains in under 5 minutes! Zero regrets on this purchase! Not only does it store well in your kitchen cabinets (laying down, standing up), it’s super easy to clean and your tostones won’t stick and break! I LOVE IT!!! The Loisa tostonera helped me make tostones for the same time. It definitely does the job of smashing the plantains to the right thickness to make tostones - which was the ultimate purpose of adding this gadget to my kitchen. This tostonera is small and light enough that it doesn’t take much space, it is made out of bamboo so feels cleaner that straight up wood, and it is very easy to figure out how to use it. The hinge is sturdy but does squeak a bit, and the grip to the countertop could be stronger — that said, I’ve never owned a tostonera before so maybe this is completely normal and expected. ... show more

This thing is hands down the best quality (and most aesthetically pleasing) one I’ve ever owned. I’ve had a lot of bad cheap tostoneras in the past but this one from Loisa is absolutely worth every penny. This thing is going to be in the family for many many years to come! I have tried several tostoneras but with no success of getting the proper thickness along with the right size. This tostonera is both in one, it smashed the plantain to the perfect thickness and allows you to obtain a large toston without the limitation indent that other ones have. I love it!!!.... It is perfect and it looks and feels heavy duty, and hopefully it will last a long time, and if it does not, I just hope the company is still around to order a replacement, since good products tend to disappear when another one is wanted.
