If you struggle finding a pillow that is firm enough look no further. I’ve tried so many pillows and they were all firm yet still too soft. They would sink in and lose my head support while sleeping on my side, lose shape, or I had to stuff them so much to get the thickness for it to still be mushy. I always woke up with neck pain, for years now. Trying new pillows, adjusting to new pillows. My neck stopped hurting the first night with this pillow, without removing or adding hulls. All praises to God. There was no adjustment period it was just wonderful and wonderfully comfortable to finally feel true neck support on my side. I used to have to put my arm under the pillow and my arm would go numb but I don’t have to or want to with this pillow. Making sleep that much more comfortable. It does it all for me It is very firm and supportive and doesn’t sink in over time! Soft but not squishy. If you slap it the pillow feels hard, but if you run your hand across it you can move the hulls and feel them moving through the pillow. Warn someone before they jump over onto it lol. It’s easily manipulated to anyway you like and will mostly stay put until you move it again. We bought two Japanese size 14x20 and it’s plenty big for us. If you sleep on your back you will have to remove a good amount of the hulls to be comfortable and still have good posture. I would personally suggest to have both this pillow and maybe the neck roll pillow for sleeping on your back or if you’re a combo sleeper and like to turn. It does make a sound when you lay on it, i find it so soothing and calming I really love it. When it arrived it had a natural scent as well to me it smelled like oaty bread and vanilla it was nice as well but it faded within a day or two. *They come with a card to email them and receive a free pillowcase or extra buckwheat hulls. I requested both which they agreed to, but only received the pillowcases which was fine. I understand. The pillowcase was the same natural cotton material that the pillow is, no dye and fits perfectly! After several months we still have yet to add extra hulls and don’t feel the need to however maybe soon I will purchase some soon *edited for spelling mistakes and to add the pillowcase info! ... show more

    • Finally Found The Perfect Pillow! Even Better with Simple Modification

I have tried every pillow on the planet! None were great for long. I had a whiplash injury and subsequent neurosurgery on my neck years ago. I have struggled to find a pillow that gave me adequate neck support, and I would frequently wake up with hand numbness. After reading mixed reviews on buckwheat pillows, I decided to try one. I had nothing to lose except for a good night's sleep, which was already happening anyway. I was overjoyed to discover that this is the pillow that I have spent years looking for! This pillow weighs a lot and is very firm, which wasn't an issue for me. It doesn't put too much pressure on my ear when I lay on my side. It gives exceptional neck support which is so hard to find. The buckwheat rustling noise isn't that bad. I like that this pillow doesn't hold heat like foam pillows do. I love the fact that the hull volume is adjustable. I ordered the standard size, since I move around a lot. I am a side sleeper and I found that I would have to gather the pillow up in order to get the height that I need. I contacted the company and requested more hulls, so that I could increase the volume of my pillow. I got rapid response from customer service and they shipped me more hulls without charge. I am so happy with my pillow. I am glad that I took the chance to try something different. It isn't a cushy pillow, but is is super supportive, and it works well for me. Edit: I have found a way to make the perfect pillow even better! Add a buckwheat neck pillow to the pillowcase along with the standard lofe buckwheat pillow. This allows customized levels of support for both my head and neck. I can now have firmer neck support and softer head cushioning. It is the best of both worlds. I did have to remove hulls from both pillows in order to get the right level of support and comfort. I toss and turn a lot at night, and the neck pillow provides consistent support without the need to readjust my larger pillow.     • Good pillow for the price

So far so good. I got this pillow to replace my water pillow that had finally fell apart after several years. By the way, if your struggling with neck pain I still recommend water pillows. However I wanted to try a change because I had to use so much water in my pillow that it was super heavy. That’s what’s nice about this pillow. First it’s lite weight. I toss and turn quite a bit and it’s easy to re-adjust this pillow at night. Second it’s firm as I want. I specifically got this based on the inches of fill for the price. I’ve taken a portion of the fill out and may yet add some of it back in at a future date but for now seems to be fine. Third it’s size is fine for me. I would say it may be a little smaller than what I was previously using but it’s still plenty big and I don’t notice and negative issues with it while sleeping. Lastly I like that I can conform this pretty easily. I had owned a Sobakowa pillow for awhile that used soft pellets and it was pretty good but had a stretchy pillow case that deformed badly over time. This has a nice, sturdy, case that is working well for me. Any criticism I have would be that it isn’t soft in anyway, which I imagine is normal for husk pillows. I’m thinking about trying to find some sort of thin batting to sit between the pillow and case to make a slightly more comfortable experience. Also there is a “cereal” smells to the pillow when you first get it. It dissipates after awhile. Also sounds crunchy, which again I’d say is probably normal. So when I bought this my water pillow had died and my neck was in pain and while it took longer than I would like for this to heal my pain, my neck is now feeling good and so I’m hopeful that will last and this pillow will last the long haul while being much lighter. ... show more
