  • Color is bright
Color: Genie (Deep Violet Purple)
I love this product. I change my hair color so much and unicorn hair is the way I go. The color is bright and i only do one session. Like the box says, the longer you leave it in the brighter it is. I left mine in for 2 hours since I wanted it to soak in. The price is perfect since Walmart now sell it in smaller tube's but for 12.99 last I checked. I prefer this size since it lasts longer. I have long hair but since I don't do my full head, it's always the perfect amount of dye. I have about 5 inches of my natural hair showing so I just dye the fading part of my hair. ... show more

  • New favorite brand
Color: Bubblegum Rose (Rose Pink)
NEW FAVORITE BRAND! I love changing my hair color “almost as often as you change clothes” as my grandma likes to say. In general I change fantasy colors every 3-4 weeks max and the constant color removing and needing to rebleach certain spots can absolutely fry my hair… this brand lifted out so easily! Not from standard washing your hair but when it’s time to change colors it is no problem. I purchased 3 colors so far, I used the sour candy pink first and I think it would have looked stunning had I been willing to bleach my hair one more time to get it to a level 9-10 but I didn’t, I ordered bubblegum pink to apply over it and loved it it was way more vibrant and bright on my not perfectly bleached hair (probably a level 7-8) and did the other half of my head with the pony purple and it was stunning as well. I do think sour candy didn’t work well for me due to my own incompetence so no hate on them, my friend who had lighter hair used what I had left and it worked perfectly for her. I removed half of the dye at a time for two reasons 1)I had a split dye so each half of my head we’re completely different colors so I assumed they would need different amounts of time. 2) the color was lifting so quickly that I couldn’t get my whole head done evenly. I did half of it with a box of color oops and was shocked at how fast it lifted out and how evenly as well. The pony purple was still extremely vibrant when doing this (washed maybe 4-5 times leading up to color removal) and it took one round of color oops and even removed all of it before the time listed on the box, I left it on to the listed time anyways to make sure it was all out and on the bubblegum pink I ran out of color oops so o decided to remove it with a round of bleach. I used 20vol bleach mixed as instructed by the bleach brand and it only had to be left on for 15ish minutes for it to fully remove the pink. The colors held up well with my normal hair wash routine with color safe products, pretty comparable to other brands I’ve used, nothing phenomenal with it vibrancy life in my opinion but that works fine for me because I like to switch up colors so often. It lifted out so flawlessly with one round of remover that I’m currently, confidently rocking blonde because of how well it all came out. It smelled great and didn’t damage my hair. All in all to summarize… if you change colors often this brand is game changing for hair health but if you stick to pink all the time for example than it might not stay vibrant as long as you might like but isn’t too quick to come out with standard washing. ... show more

  • great!
Color: Anime (Candy Blue)
This hair dye is my favorite! I have short thick hair and it usually takes 2 boxes to dye my hair but with this i only used about 3 quarters of it and got full coverage! Definitely my favorite!

  • Beautiful color, stains everything
Color: Chocolate Cherry (Burgundy Red)
I really like the color of this, it’s not necessarily a chocolate cherry but it is a pretty dark pink color. i started with a balayage blondeish hair and I do like the way it turned out. However it stains EVERYTHING - my bathtub, skin, hands, pillow cases. So beware of that and have a bleach spray on hand after you rinse it out. ... show more

  • Know What You're Buying....But I Did Make it Work Out For Me In the End
Color: Genie (Deep Violet Purple)
Update 12/1/24: I found a very pretty pink/red permanent hair dye and use that on my roots until about my mid lengths and still have my ends (about 9 inches) purple with Genie. Been doing that for a couple months now. I wanted to try blue for the longest time, too, so I just bought a jar of Mystic on Black Friday. I'm hoping because Lime Crime isn't a permanent color, it will come off my ends without bleach and damaging my ends. We'll see how this works out. (Rated 1 star in my original review. Bumping it up to 3 stars now because it is working for me and no longer come off onto all my clothing, etc.) --------------------------------------------------- Original Review: I have been coloring my hair for many years and entered a purple phase about a year ago. I couldn't find a purple that I really liked, let alone a true violet. So, this was the color I was looking for. The problem? It's a stain. Not a semi-permanent color. Not a permanent color. A stain. What does that mean? It doesn't cover your gray/white hairs like you would expect it to for one thing. After about 2 washes, the color comes off the roots and around the forehead to expose the hair beneath. It also doesn't like to stick to the new virgin root growth either. It is more expensive than the other boxed permanent color I have purchased in stores and I honestly didn't want to buy/try it. My hair dresser used it on another client and it was around Prime Day, so I bought a few jars. Only use about half jar at a time. Good for long lasting if I wanted it to last. Now, have to use a different permanent color purple on the roots and then pull Genie through the rest of my hair. It takes my hair dresser 1 hour to do so, and my hair isn't that long. The gel is that thick and doesn't want to spread onto the length. She tried it on wet hair and it seems to go on a little better. I tried to sit for 2 hours the first time and agreed to try 1 hour under heat. Because it took so long to apply, my tailbone was killing me and I had to give up after 45 minutes. We always use a color lock afterward, but Genie still came off - on my shirt, on my pillowcase, on my sweater and of course, stained my shower floor. We use the lock for about 5 minutes now instead of the recommended 2 and it works a lot better. Stained all of my shirts for that first month as well. As always, try at your own risk, but know what you are getting into. Product really doesn't tell you what it is and your results are dependent upon that information. Not a happy camper and can't wait to move on to my next solid permanent shade. Good luck. ... show more
