They fit very snug, which is what you want! We bought a used safety pool fence from someone and needed sleeves. These worked great. You do need to make sure the holes you drill are very cleaned out and may need to pound the sleeves in a bit. My husband was a little rough the first time and broke a sleeve. These are great, probably over-priced but what are you going to do when you find bargain-bin prices for used pool fencing? My answer: buy more, hah! You don't need the guide, use your common sense and you'll get "the lean" perfect -- hammer drill is absolutely required, though.

I remember reading that these were 1" wide, so I bought them. But they're apparently 5/8" wide (at the shaft), which is not what I need. Otherwise, they appear to be sturdy and slightly ribbed.
