It was shipped in a small envelope. Apparently they didn't realize it was porcelain. It basically broke half the porcelain off. However the entire thing will be hidden in my install and I didn't want to screw around with returning it. I used it and it works perfectly. The mounting tab is solid and long. For unknown reasons the light socket we had (a two prong versus the traditional socket) melted. Luckily no fire was started but all the plastic was charred and melted. The rest of the dome light was in perfect condition and I researched various light sockets. I kept reading how ceramic can be stronger, can withstand head, no likely to melt. I didn’t want to worry, since I have 2 small kids in the house, so I replaced the burnt one as well as the other ceiling lights with this. Used this lamp holder bracket for a lamp rebuild. Worked well for my application. Sturdy socket and attached wires worked well. Was packaged in a box to prevent breakage during shipping. i was not able to find a socket with a mounting bracket locally.

I bought 4 of these. 3 I used to swap from the candelabra base to the "normal" base in our bedroom ceiling fans so we could have more choices for light bulbs in the bedrooms. The 4th one I used to replaces a corroded one in a porch light. Fairly easy to swap out, the only issue I ran into was that the screw to hold it into the bracket was slightly too big in for the bracket in the ceiling fans, so I had to dig through my "screw stash" to find ones that fit better. Otherwise, they work and are easy enough to wire up, and there's enough wire to give you some room to maneuver. ... show more

I ordered two different brand lamp holders (what labeled, above). this one had a screw holding bracket to the base. the bracket is used to attach base to whatever light fixture... one can remove bracket, modify it and reattach. (Other product did NOT come with removable bracket).
