Southwire underground Feeder cable can be used in applications such as general branch wiring; new wiring; and replacement wiring. Southwire type UF is a thermoplastic Non-Metallic sheathed cable. Solid copper conductor. Type TW conductor insulation color coded with thermoplastic overall jacket. Uf thermoplastic insulated 60Àö c wet or dry locations. Ufb thermoplastic insulated with conductors rated at 90Àö c. This worked perfectly for my outdoor firepit area. We have a subpanel outside for our pool equipment, so it was easy to trench from that panel over to our firepit. I added 3 couple outlets, one for our string lights (that one is mounted up high on the post to the left) and the other two for people who may want to charge their phone, plug in a heated blanket, etc. It's easy to run the wire now but would be a pain to add later once rock is added to the inside of the pit, so I tried to think ahead as much as possible. I ran liquid tight conduit from the panel to the firepit, it's unnecessary as this cable is made for direct burial, however I wanted the added protection as it's near our pool plumbing and wiring, and also wanted the option to pull additional wire if necessary. I ran the conduit from underground up the side of the posts, since they are backfilled with concrete I wanted the ability to pull wire through if something needed to be replaced rather than having the wire itself ran through the concrete and up the post. I used the Ideal wire strippers to remove the sheathing and also strip the conductor wires, worked great and worth the money. ... show more

Worked great for my need. I ordered 2 packages and one cable was about 5 inches shorter than the other. i didn't measure them, so can't say for sure, but I suspect one was a little short.

What i liked was that it was far less expensive than similar items at the big box hardware stores. Its not easy to work with; took me a good amount of time to separate and strip the ends. but I guess thats to be expected with underground wiring.
