We bought the LegendFlame Damon 39 Inche Electric Fireplace Insert based on the positive reviews and because it was the only high scoring insert with the proper dimensions for our fireplace opening. We are very happy with it. Installation was simple, just insert, then remove and put some pieces of flat wood on the fireplace floor to level it, reinsert, plug it in. We're using it with the cord exposed but concealed behind a magazine holder. There are plenty of options to show just flames or just fan or multiple heating modes. The flames look like real fire. The fake logs look as real as others we've seen. Our livingroom is larger at 27x18 feet and after 45 minutes it noticeably warms the room. For evening use the different colors of interior lighting make for nice ambience. The one feature we don't use is the optional sounds of cracking fire. I've lived in a home with a wood fireplace that had fan ducts in the wall that were the same heigth as these heat ducts so this is common placement, however when sitting in front of the fireplace the heat hits the back of the neck, unlike a wood or gas fireplace that warms through the glass. Not a negative, just an observation. The remote control worked well for 5 months of constant use, then the display would light up but the screen was blank with no functions shown although it still controlled the varied fireplace options. We called the company listed in the manual in Riverside, California and they sent a replacement remote the same day which arrived fast and worked fine. We previously had outdated gas logs in fireplace. We wanted something safer and easier to use that would also put out good heat if we wanted it. This LegendFlame fireplace insert is Wonderful! The flame is so pretty and has a remote that allows you to adjust the flame, color, sounds, and 2 heat speeds. The insert was a few inches shorter than our fireplace opening height, so we cut, sanded, and painted a board black and added it at the top front opening to cover the gap. The cord fit through a fireplace floor hole (gas pipe used to pass thru) and plugs in in the basement. Pictures show before insert, then with fire going and glass doors closed (get reflections on the glass), then fire going and glass doors open (I like more). It has not been winter yet to use the heater for long periods, but we have tested it and it appears to put out some good heat. I’ve had this unit for less than 24 hours and I could not be happier with my purchase! I chose this insert for several reasons- I wanted one as realistic as possible because what I truly desire is a real fireplace, but I’m not made of money so here we are. I also wanted it with the benefits of some mood lighting options to set the vibes up in the hizz-house. The last reason I chose this unit is because of its size. I built the fireplace to the exact dimensions of this unit because it suited the look I was going for perfectly. Installation was a breeze. You just slide that thang in the hole and BOOM. You made a baby. Or a fireplace. Same same, amiright? Anyway, heat output is great, I’m impressed so far. Love the doors and the sliding screen, they make it look so much nicer than other units. The flame is VERY realistic from a seated position a few feet away. Up close and personal it’s obviously a faux flame, but…it is, so.. anyhoosies, our fireplace is unfinished but I don’t give a WHAT because this insert is the shizzle. I recommend. OH, I almost forgot. My husband sliced the dickens out of his finger on the vent flanges on the back of the unit. Be VERY careful installing this unit. I recommend gloves, she gets fiesty! I tried for 20 minutes to upload a little 30 second video of the different settings but it’s not happening ... show more

Purchased for my mom to replace the wood burning fireplace with something more manageable...slide right into existing fireplace opening with trim kit, looks great and easy to operate and really gives a very nice realistic glow of a fireplace. Several color and flame controls, very happy with purchase. Took about an hour to attach trim kit and slide into place but very easy. ... show more

The media could not be loaded. Overall 4/5 stars. What I Like 👍 overall looks realistic 👍 easy to install and use 👍 color, flame speed and height options 👍 comes with remote Dislike 👎 the sound is just ok, there are different options and a couple sound like they are in a tin can. 👎 the remote won’t turn on the heat, will only turn it off once I turn it on manually from the unit 👎 I can’t get the timer on the remote to work I select .5 and 6 hours later it’s still on. I searched for instructions on how to change the remote from Celsius to Fahrenheit, but I couldn’t find anything from the manufacturer or asking questions on Amazon. It could be some thing that I’m doing wrong with the remote as to why it won’t turn on the heat or the timer won’t work, but I cannot find any directions going to the manufacturer directly or on Amazon. Overall, I think this is worth the money, and hopefully I just need a new remote or it’s an operational error on my end and it will work perfectly eventually. ... show more

I recently received the 39" LegendFlame Damon fireplace insert and trim kit. They were well packaged and protected. The install was simple and quick (less than 20 minutes). I placed the insert into my brick fireplace and plugged in. It looks great and fits perfectly (provided measurements are accurate). Performance: Nice flame and lighting selections and good heater for the room. I will skip using the sound feature as is it is unrealistic and tinny. Overall better than expected. ... show more
