I have a 12 pound Jack Russell, Lexi. She used to inhale her food. And she had really bad gas... really bad!! I did some research to see about reducing the gas and one of the first things recommended was a slow feed bowl. We have a lot of bowls, so I initially bought something that suctioned to the bottom of her bowl. Well, she hated it and worked it out and chewed it up. So I decided to try this. I was a little worried that it was too big, because she only gets about 1/3 cup of food with some egg and raw meat and organs mixed in; but it is the perfect size! My 15 lb chihuahua/pomeranian/spaniel mix inhales his food instead of chewing it, so he needs a slow feeder. Other slow feeders slowed him down a tiny bit, but I knew I could find something better. I also needed something elevated because my guy has long ears that get into his food. This bowl is amazing! While I do wish the base was a little bit taller, the bowl itself is fantastic for slowing down my little snackhound. His ears are still getting in his food, but not as much as they were when his bowl was on the floor. Also, the bowl is incredibly solid-feeling, attractive, and actually looks good in my house. This is definitely the best quality slow feeder I've seen, as it's not plastic. It has more ridges to tuck food behind, which actually slows down my dog's food intake in a way that other bowls haven't. I love this bowl so much! ... show more

My rescued terrier was starving & even now 5 yrs, later she inhales her food, no chewing. It's bad for her health & her BREATH! This bowl has doubled the time it takes her to eat her meals. The bowl is a generous size so her food can be spread out in it with her meal divided into 2 servings...entree & dessert!!...slowing her down even more. The fact that it is ceramic means that hot soapy water quickly leaves it perfectly clean, safe. & ready for the next meal. It's heavy so it stays put so she can be satisfied that she has licked up every ounce of flavor at each session. She has seemed more satisfied since eating from this dish.     • If you have an aggressive eater beware!

I’m only giving four stars because of teeth damage. If your dog isn’t an aggressive eater this bowl is amazing! I originally loved this bowl! It’s sturdy. I’ve accidentally kicked it across the tile floor with my boots multiple times and it’s held up. It’s very easy to clean in the dishwasher. And it does the job by making my dogs eat slower. But now there’s irreversible damage to my 6 year old dog’s teeth. I originally used the plastic slow feeders for years and wanted something more hygienic so I made the switch to these bowls. I brush my dog’s teeth everyday so I know what my dog’s teeth look like. I noticed a small amount of wear on her bottom teeth over the years but thought it was normal until I got this bowl and within a couple weeks her teeth were even worse. This has nothing to do with the bowl itself. When my dog eats she eats too fast and aggressive and smashes her teeth against the ceramic repeatedly. My dogs teeth hitting the plastic bowls I know did some damage over the years but nothing compared to how fast this bowl made it worse. If you have an aggressive eater that hits their teeth against bowls please be aware this can happen. I’d recommend trying a cheap plastic slow feeder first before immediately buying one of these. And if your dog hits their teeth while eating I’d just stay away from slow feeders all together if I were you. I’ve seen people recommend putting a ball in your dog’s normal bowl while they eat to slow them down. There are also silicone slow feeders to try as well but I’d be wary of those if I had a dog that liked to chew things. On the other hand I use this same brand of bowl for my other dog that’s 15 years old and she eats very slowly with these and takes her time hardly ever hitting her teeth against the bowl (but her bottom front teeth are removed so it’s not the best comparison lol). If your dog hits their teeth stop using the bowl. I feel terrible for choosing this bowl and causing more damage to my dog’s teeth. My dog is my best friend and I love her more than anything in the world and I feel very guilty. I just wanted to warn other pet owners that this could happen and you might not notice till it’s too late. Also the company was very kind and reached out to apologize for what happened. ... show more

What you see is what you get. My parents dog loves this bowl. After noticing that my parents dog would be disinterested in his food and would only eat out of our other dogs bowl that also was a slow eater similar to this product. My dog, Apollo, has had gastric issues for years now and I've darn near tried everything. A slow feeder was next on the list of things to try/use. I searched and searched through all kinds of plastic big and small feeders and stumbled upon these beauties. Apollo has to eat wet food so I was never super psyched with how messy a slow feeder might be. Per usual with ordering online sometimes you don't know what you're going to get. The box itself was awesome. it was well-padded and honestly will probably use the box for future storage. I ordered two bowls (the green one) to help switch it up. I love that each bowl has a different pattern "puzzle" inside. It's not too deep and well spread out so my medium-sized dog with a big cow head can eat easily. It comes with little rubber pads to put on the bottom so he no longer has to chase his bowl around the room and banging into my walls. He does amazing at making a clean plate so I haven't had any problems cleaning although I don't see that it will be a problem. It's thick and sturdy and have I mentioned it's beautiful? Even after it sitting on the floor for a couple of days I heard my daughter walk by and say to out loud (those bowls really are beautiful) I'm not sure if it's going to help his upset stomach at all but it is taking him longer to eat and he seems to really be enjoying it. ... show more
