  • LAWSON Hammock-- AWESOME! (homemade underquilt)
Style: Hammock
I'm 47. 220lbs. This is my first hammock. Preparing for one week trip to Boundary Waters; I've slept in this hammock a few times overnight to work out any issues. 1. I really need those side tie-downs. The stability is awesome with those. And, you don't need all four. Just two works fine. I'm more than happy to deal with those with the incredible comfort this product supplies. I've slept on my back, side and belly with no issues at all. 2. The space is incredible! The little rings that hang down inside can be easily tied together with some cord for a long "ridge line" to secure things to. 3. I bought a 10X10 tarp because I like the open air. I am also worried about having to set up or tear down in the rain. I still bring the Lawson Tarp in case the wind is very very bad or the rain decides to come sideways. Love the Larson Tarp, I just don't want to be so bottled up. 4. This is my under quilt: OutdoorsmanLab Lightweight Camping Sleeping Bag. I used wife's sewing machine and stitched on some webbing and shock cord. A few clips. And there you go. Its a perfect summer under quilt. I don't need my ThermoRest now. 5. Had a simple issue upon purchase and the owner of Lawson fixed it immediately without any hesitation. GREAT CUSTOMER SVC! I LOVE THIS HAMMOCK. Pics are from my backyard. UPDATE: after my trip to the Boundary Waters I learned a lot. 1. IF you like a lay flat like me, I keep the hammock tightly pulled between the trees. Needs guy lines. 2. IF you like a more traditional curved lay. It is more stable and does not need guy lines. 3. This is not an ultra light set up. The weight really added up over the miles. OK for me, not for everybody. ... show more

  • Highly recommend! Our 13yo loves it.
Style: Hammock
A great product! We bought this tent for our 13yo son for his birthday. We chose it because it seemed that the poles that hold the hammock tent up and the spreader bars would provide a more comfortable sleeping experience than being cocooned with fabric closely around him (like most of the other hammock tent styles). It was very quick and easy to set up, and the fabrics and zippers seem to be good quality. We did read in other reviews that this tent can be tippy, so after hanging it up he tied 2 thin ropes to stabilize it(one on each side). He has already camped in it a few nights and it is working even better than we thought that it would. The first night there was a big thunderstorm with rain, but he stayed completely dry with the rain fly on. There is plenty of room in this. We used a thin yoga mat as a base layer, then his camping pad and finally his sleeping bag. He says it was very comfortable and warm. I definitely recommend this product! ... show more

  • This is the ultimate camping hammock. + amazing company
Style: Hammock
I have been a hammock fanatic for years and years. Never wanted to be a tent guy, so I sought the perfect setup (For me). I tried ultralight sling style hammocks, and I've tried traditional setups. While they all offer their pros/cons, the Lawson is to me, the perfect camping hammock. I'm one of those guys who researches the crap out of everything before I buy, and the BRCH was the end to my long search. It lays flat, which makes it very comfortable. I recommend taking advantage of the tie out points for stability as well. Also, Lawson themselves are an amazing group of individuals with superior customer service! We keep up with each other on instagram and they are always kind and responsive. There are a couple of improvements I would love to see to the BRCH in the future. I would love to see the Aluminum spreader bars be upgradable to something lighter weight like carbon fiber. Also upgrades from rope to something lighter and stronger like Dyneema Rope. This hammock can be on the heavy side, but for a total shelter system its right on par when you consider not having to bring a sleeping pad/footprint (all that tent stuff). Also, I'd like to see it break down much smaller and have quick detach points to separate the spreader bars w/ropes attached from the hammock (or vice versa) to fit it into your pack however you'd like. Also, because the inside of this hammock is so huge when fully strung up (which is awesome), I'd love to see some more inside attachment points to really customize hanging and attaching gear such as your sleep system or any other gear. Overall, amazing company, amazing product, keep doin the good work! Buy this thing. ... show more
