  • Ain't no bugs on me!
This princess can't stand bugs, and this bug net does the trick. I use it with an ENO doublenest or other hammock. I normally have a structural ridgeline so I turn this inside out, use the ridgeline hooks on the inside and it keeps the bag off the ground when I'm not filling out the hammock. My favorite thing so far was taking a sleeping pad with me (thermarest neo air) and since it was warm when I first got in the hammock, I could put the pad beside me in the netting instead of in the hammock. When it got colder I could move the pad under me, between the hammock and net and it would stay in place and keep me warm. On a much colder night I put the pad inside the hammock like normal, but on the other nights and times when the temperature was changing I had all kinds of options. I learned this by accident on a trip at multiple altitudes and temps and I think I will hammock camp like this year round now. And it stops bugs! On the C&O canal there is 180+ miles of stagnant canal water and the mosquitos would have eaten me alive but they only got my hand once when it was laying against the net one night. Yes, they can bite through the net, so keep your skin off the net. The net is strong and sturdy, heavier than "it needs to be" but sturdy enough that you don't have to worry about it getting big holes if it comes in contact with a stick. If you can afford the weight and bulk of this net, then you won't be disappointed with it. Me, I'll skimp on other things (like food) and take my net with me from now on. ... show more

  • needs longer ridge line, bring an extra
I just got back from a two day camping trip where I used this bug net. It was awesome. The ENO Guardian net did its job very well. I woke up both mornings seeing bugs walk along the outside of the net, but no bugs inside! Few things I will mention, it can be a bit awkward to get in and out of the hammock with the bug net but this may be due to the fact that the string included to hang the net from is wayyyy too short to suspend it from tree to tree. The Eno instructional video I found for this product, depicts someone tying the ridge line from the two trees the hammock is suspended from. This was not possible in my usage of this product and I tried many tree distances, it always ended up being around 2 ft too short to reach around the other tree. So if you are going to buy this product invest in an additional rope longer than the one provided for your ridge line. If it was long enough I think this could've made getting into the hammock less awkward because the entrance would've been much higher (I had to tie it onto my suspension straps since wasn't using a rain fly.) Overall this is a great product, I would definitely recommend it. Mosquitoes LOVE me and the only bites I got this weekend occurred when I wasn't in my guardian bug net. ... show more

  • I'll never camp without it
What a difference this makes. It's so much nicer being able to get away from the mosquito's, like the tenters. I can climb inside and read for awhile in peace. I did a 4 night trip recently and after the first night I left the net on the hammock and just rolled it all up together. I packed just fine and the next night, and subsequent nights, I just pulled it out and hung it all up. It was pretty easy and faster. It's definitely durable. I fell out of the hammock one night while reaching for something I dropped and hit the ground. I've never fallen out of my hammock before. The bug net stretched and I was able to reach up and unzip the entry and climb out. Nothing tore, and nobody saw it! ... show more

  • I won't camp without it now.
I consider this an absolute must for warm weather camping. I live in Florida so even in the cool months the mosquitoes are relentless. Not in here, though. Slept a night in the back woods in central florida on halloween weekend and they were still out in force, not a single bite all night long. I DID, however, hear them buzzing around beside the hammock trying to find me. At first I thought one had been trapped in the net with me and I was in for a night of trying to find it, but they were actually outside, frantically trying to get at me. The net did its job well, nothing made it in all night. I like the side entry better than bottom entry like other nets have. It is very easy to sit back into your hammock, then zip the net shut before you lay down. Same thing in reverse when it's time to get out. The whole thing compresses into a softball-ish size so it adds nothing to my pack. I now bring it on every hike, even if I anticipate nice clear bug free nights. I would rather have it, and some sleep, than save the small amount of weight and size ... show more

  • Minor tweak and you got yourself a bug barrier
First of all, I camp in the Florida marsh/swamp land where the mosquitos are scarier than the alligators. I rather enjoy hammock camping because I never have to worry about pitching a tent, clearing rocks etc. As long as you find 2 trees within 15 ft of each other your set. But the drawback to hammock camping is your much more exposed to the elements, along with the dreaded mosquitos, flies and no-see-ums. This net drastically reduces the bug bites. It keeps the even the smallest of sand flies out (no-see-ums). Which I didnt expect. BUT if you are in contact with the net. I.E if your net is resting on your arm you will get bit by mosquitos. They can bite through the net. So what you have to take care to make sure the net is not touching you in any place. What I like to do is take a stick and lay with it perpendicular to me to stretch out the sides of the net to keep it off of me in the night. May work for some but if your not a still sleeper you may have to get creative because this net will drape over you. Overall great quality. Will last a long time. Just gotta find a way to expand the sides of the net. ... show more

  • Protection You Can Trust
ENO has done a magnificent job constructing this bug shield. I trust this brand, and have used them for over a decade for my critical outdoor gear.
