My main scan tool needed an expensive update but I wanted to have Autoauth and any online functions work. This tool with two years of free updates cost less than just a year of updates for my other tool and does pretty much all the same stuff plus also does some immobilizer key programming! This tool was a no brainer and does not disappoint. I’ve been liking it so much it has been my main go to scanner for the past couple of months. Figured I should write a review. Some points I really like. -The size, it’s a perfect grab and go size. -The speed. I don’t have patience for slow tools and this one is not slow. Keep in mind some cars are slower than others to scan but it’s not because of the tool. -Future ready for newer cars as it supports CAN FD and DOIP. -Corded and can be negative but can also be a plus. I don’t have to worry about forgetting the VCI in a car but the tool also charges via OBD. I rarely ever have to charge it by USB, which charges via USB C so doesn’t need a special cable. -Has a kick stand, might not seem like much but it’s definitely useful. -Has customization functions for supported vehicles. Lots of stuff that can be changed on Toyotas, I’m sure other vehicles but I work on lots of Toyotas. -VAG guided functions for VW/Audi. Huge as I work on those products. -The graphing is fantastic like my Thinktool. Can graph various PIDs at the same time. A feature I use all the time for road tests. -Battery life. It seems to last and not die fast when it goes to sleep. Plus it charges when plugged in. -Has a fantastic case and it’s not huge when storing in my work van. The things I don’t like. -Not very much to be honest. Wireless would be great and there is the Bluetooth model. The wireless one is more expensive and I as listed earlier there is something to be said for wired. You don’t have to worry about forgetting the VCI and it charges over the OBD cable. This is a highly recommended tool. Does everything the X431 series seems to do at a fantastic price. Great for the professional like I am or the DIYer for your own car. I’ve got my high end scanner lent out to a friend that is a shop owner but haven’t gotten it back yet as this tool pretty much everything it does! ... show more

As an ASE certified technician with 27 years of experience and many many scan tools I can easily say this is an impressive tool. The features of this tool is really where it stands out. The resets and configuration function of this tool make this really worth the money. The crp919e will reset oil life percentage, battery renewals, diesel particulate filters, sunroofs, coding for injectors, window resets, abs brake bleeding, steering angle resets, and those are just a few of the capabilities. In addition to that it is still a full featured scan tool that will read and erase codes read the data stream perform actuation tests so that you can test individual components quickly. It will also perform certain levels of PMI (programmable module installation) which is where the tool will get the information from the old module and write that information on to the new module. Big name brand scan tools that cost thousands of dollars will not complete all of the things that this tool will do. The hardware is also impressive for this tool. It is a corded tool which means you will not be losing any Bluetooth dongles and it will be charging while you are using it. The 7-in screen displays text large enough to easily be read and the graphing is very good. The case on the tool has rubber bumpers so that it can survive being dropped from a reasonable height. The software on the tool is also really well done. The main menu is organized really well and finding information is simple. After a vehicle is scanned you can produce a report and email it to yourself or someone else and it looks very professional. The menus on the tool are labeled properly and if you click on something many times it will have a dialog box that details what that test does and asks you if you want to proceed especially if doing so could cause a problem if done wrong. What I find particularly useful is its capability to provide live data. For instance, you can monitor the engine coolant and transmission oil temperatures in real-time, which is great when you're working on the car. The CRP919 also allows you to test specific functionalities like ABS, coolant fans, fuel pumps, and windows by turning them on and off, which is quite handy for troubleshooting.
