Amazing product. Best thermal brush on my extremely thick, frizzy and wavy hair. Bristles glide through quick and easily, with no pulling. I ONLY use this product on 100% DRY HAIR. (I’ve purchased the L’ange heat protector for the best results, and I spray this on damp hair prior to any heat use!) I have been using this straighter for a few months now and have a good feel for how it works. I have thick, shoulder length hair that is not curly but kind of dry and bushy looking. This straightener heats up quickly, just a couple minutes. It is as easy to use as combing your hair. I do small sections at a time - probably 8-10 sections over my whole head. I run the comb from the underside scalp to end and with one pass, it is smooth and healthy looking. The big trick is to comb through while holding the ends taut with your free hand so you have a little tension on it. Last and final update: I originally complained about the button being in the worst spot, constantly turning off. However, after a few days, I realized that it wasn’t the power button, it was a defect in the tool. I contacted Amazon and they sent me a new one (I am sending old one back) that works perfect. The button is not an issue because you have to hold it down for a several seconds. This is my FAVORITE hair tool of all time. I have great hair for days. UPDATE: I had to update this review because after using the Smooth It one time after drying my hair, my very naturally curly hair stayed straight for four days!! Yes, girls, all I had to do was brush my hair and use dry shampoo! I even had a stranger compliment my hair (on day 3). Although the button is annoying, it’s so WORTH it! It’s good to preface this with the fact that I love hair tools. I own the Shark Flex Style and more than five Lange tools, which I adore. This tool gets my hair smoother and straighter than my Lange straightner. BUT…the power button is literally where 99% of people hold this tool. I turned it off multiple times while using, it’s such a pain. I love this tool, but not with the inconvenience of the power button issue. I would not purchase this again. It does—have a great heat level, reduces frizz (with Lange Glass hair product), and it structurally made well, except for that button. For reference, I have extremely curly thick hair. I purchased this after buying the L'ange Le Vite Hot Brush. My hair grew back a completely different texture - porous, curly on top but not underneath and unruly after radiation and chemo for breast cancer. The front pieces in particular kink at the roots and frizz badly even after blow drying with a round brush. My flat iron seemed to make the look of those pieces worse. I liked the hot brush, but found it too large for the front of my front hair near the roots. it works great in back. This Smooth-It Classic Hot Comb, while difficult to change the settings on, is absolutely wonderful for those front pieces. It's thinner for one. Using it as instructed by combing hair from underneath leaves the front of my hair looking smooth, no kinks as closer to the root and allows me to curve my layers into a soft curved-in style. I use only on the lowest heat. It took less than 3 minutes to turn those unruly pieces into a much less frizzy, smooth style that doesn't highlight how porous those pieces are. Even though they don't stay that way when humid out , it's wonderful to see face framing soft layers now. I'm going to keep both L'ange products (unless the comb is defective and that's the issue with changing temperature and turning off). They both seem to be gentler on my hair and leave it looking much healthier than when using a flat iron. Also, I don't use the flat iron between washings as it leaves ridges and fried ends. The hot comb and brush are terrific in that they don't leave anything but styled hair from bedhead hair. I'm not sure how this would work on very thick strands, but this breast cancer survivor can highly recommend the comb to those with compromised, unruly, frizzed hair with cowlicks. The 4 stars is because of my issue with changing the temperature and having to unplug to turn it off - otherwise, it would be 4.5 stars Update: 2 months since purchase. Only used on low once a week for less than 5 minutes at a time. It won't turn on anymore! What a shock! It's stored in the box in a dry place. It's sadly passed the return date! I promise I hardly ever write reviews, but I had to let y’all know that this thing works! I initially saw it demonstrated on Facebook, so I was skeptical. I saw mostly positive reviews here on Amazon, so I was intrigued enough to give a try. I have thin, fine naturally curly hair, which I sprayed with a heat protectant when it was soaking wet and combed out the tangles. That’s it. I let it air dry completely and it was good a frizzy, let me tell you. This little gadget worked like a charm to smooth and straighten my hair with very little effort on my part.
