Omg! If you have a female dog that is getting spayed or is recovering from abdominal surgery, you should buy one of these “dog onesies” as we called it, lol! Our female dog was recovering from being spayed and she absolutely hated wearing the cone of shame. She couldn’t get comfortable while wearing the rigid plastic cone on her head (first time wearing a cone) and she was miserable. After about the first 45 minutes of wearing the cone we realized we needed to look into other options for our girl to be able to recover comfortably. The vet had mentioned that our dog could wear a body suit instead of a cone, if she would tolerate it. At that time of loading her into the car to leave the vet, we sort of laughed and didn’t pay much attention to it. I mean, who has ever heard of a body suit for a dog? Well, it was not long and we were searching the internet for just such a suit. We felt bad enough that our extremely high energy, young playful pup was dealing with recovery from surgery, and the many restrictions that she would have to accept, temporarily. She is so energetic and playful, always jumping around the house, inside and out, and always with a toy in her mouth. Toys are such an important part of her daily life/ routine , and we had to take them all away for about 14 days. The vet told us we had to remove all toys that would encourage excitement and jumping/ playing , in order for her to completely heal without any complications from stitches coming open. Our dog had to take doggie downers (prescription that made her less active) to help keep her calm and more relaxed. Even still, keeping her calm and quiet/relaxed was very difficult. With her wearing this “doggie onesie” however, she was finally able to fully relax to sleep. She could not get comfortable enough to fully relax while wearing the cone of shame. While wearing the onesie, she could lick the fabric, but not get to her actual stitches. She excepted the strange new concept of wearing dog clothing and never tried to get it off by herself. Maybe part of this is because we constantly made over her and how cute she was in her dog onesie, lol. The material is very soft and stretchy, just like human baby onesies, lol. The Velcro closure is very strong and secure, yet also very easy to undo and refasten. As you can tell by some of the pics I added to this review, the onesie (Aka dog recovery suit) we purchased did not fit our dog perfectly, because our dog is a mixed breed with a longer body. Our dog is about the size of a full grown Labrador, but taller and longer bodied. Her nickname is stretch, because she the size of a Lab with about 7 inches in length, stretched out in her body. As a result, part of the time her lower neck/ almost shoulder area exceeded past the head opening of the dog suit. Thank goodness for the very stretchy fabric. The dog suit did not fit her perfectly, but it worked and we got through the 2 weeks of recovery. This purchase/item was one of the best things we have bought off Amazon. It did what it was supposed to. It aided in a more comfortable recovery for our dog, not to mention help us to keep our sanity during the process. I highly recommend buying this product if you ever have to get your female dog spayed. Also, I think it might be a good option for female dogs to wear while in heat, to help keep your house cleaner. Could probably work as sort of a dog diaper in that situation. Note: When your dog has to go potty and/or poop you really need to undo the Velcro closure and either roll it up and back (on top of their back) and refasten Velcro holding the fabric out of the way , or , remove onesie temporarily and then put back on. You may want to consider purchasing two of these. That way if one gets dirty or yucky you can wash it in washing machine (recommend air drying) and still keep one on your dog while they are in recovery. ... show more

Purchased a size small for my miniature schnauzer and fits good he’s 9 months. Looks comfortable on him and is easy to put on. Fabric is soft and a little stretchy he sleeps comfortable without the cone around his neck. I’m happy I ordered this for him now that he got neutered. This surgery suit is perfect prevents him to be licking in that area. ... show more

This design is so perfect & the selection of prints is terrific. Worried about the sizing and purchased the medium for my chubby 17 lb Shihtzu (with cystic acne on her back, which Shihtzus can be prone to). I use a special shampoo and Benzoil Peroxide on her back and she needs the onesies to keep her from licking the medicine. I Chose the pineapple print for her. Not only does she look adorable in it but she seems so cool and comfortable and doesn't try to get out of it like with other onesies. Super easy to lift the back end for potty time too. I ordered two more in different prints. I haven't washed it yet so I'll be line drying & fluffing in the dryer to avoid any shrinkage that normally comes with cotton. EDIT.. Welll. hmmm. The initial Pineapple onesie I'd ordered came WITHOUT a velcro overlap on top. It was actually SEWN tight! .. No velcro at all on that flap that is supposed to overlap the Velcro straps that secure the onesie in place. What a surprise!! I went to use it, just assuming of course that that flap was Velcroed in place but the thread stitches tore instead of any velcro releasing.. What the heck..?! Wanted to love these! My dog seems so comfortable in a Onesie after her medication is applied.. The blue one fades immediately where medication, Benzoyl Peroxide, has been applied on her so it ends up splotched in white patches, (couldn't say if that's the case for other meds). The shrinkage was noticeable after a cold water wash and handing to dry, then a fluff-up. It still fits her but snugly so I let out the bottom to velcro around her chest (not rolling It up but just pulling it up under her & using the the 'straps' from underneath her to come up around her back and velcro there. Just wanter to update as per my experience if that's helpful to anyone. Still DO suggest and recommend doggie onesies over a cone collar! So nothing I've written here, in my estimation, deters from that particular matter. Go with a doggie onesie, just know that very few things are perfect even in the world of doggie onesies. ... show more

I'm glad I ordered a few days before needing so I'd have time to order a different size if needed. My dogs 23lbs and after reading other reviews I decided on a size large and so glad I did. It fits her great with plenty of give for her to move comfortably and her tail to fits nicely without pulling. The fabric feels very soft and great quality. The straps have plenty of room for adjustment. For the first few minutes she wasn't too sure about it but then adjusted and seemed to not care it was on. I'm so thankful these exist because the cones often create more destruction, especially with hyper dogs. ... show more
