Directions: Open swab sleeve 1 inch; remove without touching bristles. Save sleeve. Firmly roll swab between dog’s cheek and gums for 15 seconds per swab. Insert swab handle in carton hole and air dry for 5 min. Repeat for second swab. Activate kit and fill in info. Write Activation Code Number on back of Sample ID Sticker. Reinsert dry swabs into protective sleeve. DO NOT reseal sleeve. Place swabs into the carton; seal. A pre-paid shipping label is on the carton. Send in the kit. Results in ~2-3 weeks.

Really appreciate how easy to use this was. The instructions were clear on how to collect the swab and after mailing it in the results actually came sooner than it said. Additionally, the website interface is very clear and easy to navigate on a phone or computer. I found the whole process to be very straightforward. And it was so much fun to get the results!! My theory was right! The rescue had him labeled as a Silky Terrier mix but I thought he was more likely to be a Yorkie Terrier mix. And turns out, he's 0% Silky but 59% Yorkie. And the fact he has a bit of Dachshund in him is really funny because my family always joked he might because of his short legs. Seeing the DNA breakdown really is so much fun! I also upgraded after purchase to the version with the health screening. Luckily there were no detectable issues. A few years ago my family had a dog very unexpectedly pass from a genetic heart issue, so it's something I was definitely willing to spend the money on for the peace of mind. Also, the Wisdom test is a good financial deal. Even after adding the health screening, I paid significantly less than my sister paid a year before for the equivalent Embark test (with health screening) for her dog. Very easy to use. We ended up upgrading to the most expensive test, as they offered us a discount after the sample was sent in. The results seem fairly accurate based on what we know of our puppy's origins. It's nice being able to give people an answer as to what breeds our puppy is, but our favorite part was all the health markers they test for. I also was able to easily share our puppy's results via a link with her litter mates at the rescue for potential adopters. Hoping it will help them get adopted faster! The share link was such a nice bonus! And the downloadable PDF file was great for our Vet's office to have on file! I think it's important to remember that DNA doesn't split an even 50/50 from parents to offspring. Some times it can be a 49/51 split. Also, DNA testing is based on an algorithm. Sometimes the algorithm from the community sample set your test sample is compared to, may vary a little providing slightly different results. It's better to view these tests as a whole and not as exact results. DNA is complex. The more tests that are conducted, the more accurate the algorithm will be. I feel like Wisdom Panel's accuracy is pretty good right now, but is should be even better in the future. Will definitely do again for our future family dogs! ... show more

I enjoyed doing my dogs, DNA test. Just wanted to do it for fun and see the results that came back, it was very interesting facts I learned about my French bulldog, color traits & traits. Reason why I took off a star is because they had a upgrade for premium to get more “detailed” results. Definitely not worth it. Waste of money. So glad I purchased this. My dog is 13 years old and I've always been curious about his breed since he was a rescue being passed off as a "pure bred shepherd". I knew he was a mixed breed, figured he had some shepherd in him but kept guessing at the other potential breeds. The DNA test was way too so and the results came in rather quickly.
