After quite a bit of research to find the best peeler, I lucked out with the Kuhn Rikon original Swiss peeler. It performed just as the reviews stated. Cut through thick skins of squash and other root vegetables with ease. Very sharp and sturdy! I haven't tried with "eye" remover but I'm sure it will perform well when needed. Pay attention when you use these. They are very sharp. I damaged a nail bc I wasn't focusing. And dry the blades after you wash them. They tend to rust. They get the job done, especially when you have to peel the pear and potato harvest for canning. I would recommend not allowing younger kids to use these. ... show more

Can you go lower than 1 star? I purchased these in November because we always needed an extra peeler. I am ready to throw them all away. I have another "Swissmar" peeler that I have had for at least 18 years. It's still sharp, no rust, and it works. These new ones are treated the same as the Swissmar, but they're rusty and not one of them would peel soft butter. What a waste of money. I will find another Swissmar peeler and pay the higher price. These were a waste of money! ... show more
