This peeler does an excellent job peeling any item. Its a breeze peeling through tough butternut squash skin, yet delicate enough to peel apples and cucumbers. The blade is very sharp, serrated and swivels efficiently over bumpy produce. As noted by other reviewers care should be used while peeling as the blade is very sharp indeed! It's so efficient that it does not take much flesh off the item you are peeling...now that is a good peeler! The pointed tip at the top of the peeler is superb at removing eyes from potatoes--a little feature that shouldn't be forgotten nor neglected. I REALLY love that feature! The peeler is beautiful too...yes it's just a peeler, but you can't deny how aesthetically appealing it is. My only gripe is that the handle is really big, too big for me. I had my husband (the designated potato and carrot peeler) try this out and he felt the same way. Regardless of it's size, I still plan on using this item but I will use extra care. Honestly, it does take a lot less effort to peel produce with this peeler-- I just wish it was smaller, hence the 4 star review versus the 5 star review . . ... show more

After searching high and low for our vegetable peeler, I ordered the Kitchen Aid gourmet euro peeler and another Victorinox peeler. I am a senior female with tiny hands. I did not find the Kitchen Aid too large at all. In fact, I had trouble gripping the very small Victorinox. My husband, a retired chef, tried them out for comparison. All good, but you should be extremely careful. I have yet to find a safe skinner. Not just this one, but all the other ones have peeled my fingers' skin. I was peeling cucumber to make a bowl of Shirazi salad, and it peeled through my finger's flesh. I yelled in shock.
