I bought this for my mother. It worked great for about 10 occasions. I kept it clean and maintained. It is only made of plastic. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You wouldn't buy this if you just peeled an occasional potato now and again. But, that's all it can handle. Peeling 10+ potatoes for family meals was too much for it and it wore out. Bought this for my mom who has really bad arthritis in her hands and has issues peeling fruits and vegetables, it works great and is a great product. Peels potatoes and apples no problem. Haven't tried others but sure it works fine.

It doesn't come with a power cord! I couldn't believe it. I tried it with a cord from around the house, and it wasn't strong enough to be effective. I didn't want to use batteries, but had a tree full of apples, so I put them in. I'm keeping it, even though I was sure I would have to return it. It is very light weight, and feels cheap, but worked surprisingly well. I did more that 40 apples and 10 potatoes and it is going strong on the original batteries and first blade. ... show more

I had a terrible time using this product. I was trying to simply peel a cucumber, which has a rind that easily comes off, but it didn't want to work right and was just a pain to even try and use. It's much easier to just get a hand peeler out!

I don't know that this is a ton faster than peeling yourself, but it saves you a lot of work if you happen to have a lot of apples to deal with. It's also fun which counts for something. My almost 3 yr old loves to press the button. My only complaint is that food/peels can't get stuck near blade and it's hard to clean out. EDIT: Tried to use it again and the food/peels getting stuck near the blade has become a huge issue. I also think that my larger apple may be making it harder to peel. I cannot get it to peel my large Jonnagold apples. Sad. It might do smaller apples, but I needed something that would work for everything. I ended up returning it and purchasing the Victorio VKP1010 Apple and Potato Peeler, Suction Base which works excellent for what I need. Having it be hand crank wasn't bad, although electric was nice too. ... show more
