I bought this for my mother. It worked great for about 10 occasions. I kept it clean and maintained. It is only made of plastic. So, I guess I shouldn't be surprised. You wouldn't buy this if you just peeled an occasional potato now and again. But, that's all it can handle. Peeling 10+ potatoes for family meals was too much for it and it wore out. I bought this to mainly peel apples for applesauce. It works wonderful!! I peeled about 40lbs of apples, it took less than ONE hour..no fooling! I love this peeler! It's light, easy to use, cleans up beautiful. I would highly recommend this to anyone.

This is a very attractive, very lightweight, ingenious device. The IDEA of it is great. The execution is quite frustrating. It works really well on hard fruit. It does not work AT ALL on ripe fruit. Soft fruit, like ripe pears,just get pushed off in a messy glop. Hard fruits are great but go through blades quickly. Order extra now - you will need them. And know that you will still have to hand peel the upper and lower fifths of each fruit. Since I have arthritis, I will keep it and know I Will still have work to do. ... show more

It lasted about one week. Looks good, peels fairly well, but just won't take it every day. My husband eats an apple every day, without skin, so I thought this would be great for him. It was a great sell, but we wont buy another one. Don' waste your time or your money on this one.
