For 2015 the Crush series has been completely overhauled. Our mission was not to reinvent the wheel, but to buck the trend - you won’t find any sterile digital amp modelling here. Building on the huge success of our critically acclaimed Crush Pro models, we’ve introduced the same high gain, 4 stage preamp design into the Crush range. This means responsive overdrive and detailed levels of saturation never before heard in a practice amplifier. Powerful analogue circuits create amps with ‘gut punch’ tones which react like their bigger brothers in the Orange family, whilst our new Cab Sim feature faithfully emulates the muscle of an Orange 4x12" cabinet through the headphone output. I bought this intending it to be my "at the cabin" practice amp, anticipating leaving it there. Now I'm sure it's going to stay with me and make the drive back and forth, while my original practice amp (a Fender Frontman) sits idle. For the price, this solid state product is able to achieve the Orange sound which I've always coveted. It is also compact, lightweight, and looks great. I play it plugged in straight (which will be the "away from home" configuration) but it also takes my pedalboard way better than I anticipated. I've used it at jam sessions with no reservations or downside. I am probably putting more practice time in, and I believe that is at least partially attributable to enjoying my tone more, or at least having more fun pursuing it. I'm most frequently using it with a Strat. I know the biggest knock on it is only one channel, so you have to adjust one or more knobs to change tone, but honestly, if you can't achieve that with the pickups, volume and tone settings on the guitar and pedals, you may be asking too much of a $100 amp. I love the Orange sound and overall brand, and this was a pretty easy way to get into it myself. ... show more

I ordered this on accident. I meant to order the speaker cab but decided to give this amo a try and not return it. This little amp crushes it. I tried with no pedals and with pedals . It takes to pedal really well . I play a lot of metal and hard rock , I like my tone crunchy and distorted. I found that my Mesa Throttlebox sounds fantastic through this through my other amps sounds a bit too chunky no matter how I eq it. My other metal pedals such as the Boss Metal Zone sounds terrible through it .The cleans sound tremendous also. It's very loud and has a full spectrum of range . I can't believe for this small of an amp that I get this huge tone and volume. I will also at some point order the cab that I originally wanted . ... show more

This is a great practice amp, and I'm more than impressed with its performance. The tones and music coming from it are pure and clear. Though it's only 12 watts, it gets incredibly loud while maintaining the crispness of the music. There's no feedback unless you have it calibrated oddly. It does both clean and dirty, making the most beautiful sounds. We upgraded to this from a Champ 15, and the quality of the sound from the Orange amp is so much cleaner (or dirtier - your choice. ;) ). It's compact, so it fits in my tiny house well. It's very sturdily built; for the low price, it's not constructed cheaply. And, the great cool orange color is fantastic! ... show more

After having some issues with my old 20 amp solid state amp I used at home I decided to go with this little number. I was a bit skeptical at first and thought it might be a downgrade, but man have my expectations been shattered. Really good clean tones, and this thing can certainly be cranked a respectable amount. I've been using my own overdrive pedal in place of the overdrive knob on the amp, but having played around with it the crunchy sounds you can get are fun a usuable. Build quality is amazing, wouldn't expect less from orange. Played along side a friend using an old 10w practice amp and the difference between the two was night and day. They did a good job replicating the Orange amp sound. Obviously it's not as good as their $1000 tube amps, but for the price it sounds really good, exactly how you would expect a Solid State amp from Orange would sound. Full mids, clean highs, it does lack in the low end but it's only a 6" speaker. This amp is louder than you would think. Things this amp is good at: practice at home, practice in a small studio, American garage grunge, Brit rock, Jazz, clean mids and highs, portability, jamming with acoustic guitars. Things this amp is not good at: practice in a large studio, live events (not even a small club), recording, beginners*, metal, low end is muddy. It's a small practice amp and that's what I bought it for and that's what it's good for. For $99 the build quality is really good. The only issue I have is the overdrive, and this issue is really only for my situation. The OD sound good at medium and high volume but you cannot get good distortion at low volumes. I have my amp in the bedroom and at the lowest volume you just can't over drive the preamp. So I'm either sharing my distortion with the entire house or playing clean. I'm probably getting a pedal to remedy this. However, the clean sounds good at all volumes and the OD sounds good at medium-high volumes. If you don't like the sound of Orange amps, you won't like this. If you own an Orange amp (tube) and want a similar sounding practice amp, you will like this amp. *the reason I don't think this is a good amp for a beginner is because it has a very distinct sound and requires some tweaking. Not something a beginner should be worrying about. On the other hand, it is very simple, but someone with no experience tweaking sound might struggle getting the sound they want. Edit: after owning the amp for a few weeks I was able to get some really good crunchy distortion out of it. ... show more

I played acoustic guitar for a couple years and went with an orange amp to try electric. Decided to go right for this cause I felt like I would outgrow a cheaper amp kinda quick and I'm so happy with it. I don't know a crazy amount about amps but I have a friend who has been playing electric guitar for over 20 years and I let him borrow it. He said it "Makes me feel like I'm a REAL boy!" so I think that's good. He explained some audio things to me that I still don't quite get but it sounded impressive. ... show more
