I long ago learned the value of paying more for better tools and after my wife's passing I have slowly replaced all the kitchen utensils with top quality items. Good knives make meal prep so much easier as I chop and slice. All my knives are better than average quality and I had been keeping them sharp, but I got lazy this winter. Opening up this set, I was impressed with the heft of them, the triple-tang construction and how eaily each of them that I tried easily sliced into a sheet of paper. When I tried it with my chef's knife, it failed miserably until I got out the whetstone and put a proper edge back on it. The Damascus steel pattern doesn't hurt. Most of my friends won't know that it is not Damascus steel and I see no probem with this steel. The shears have a quality feel to them and are very sharp. I am tempted to put all my knives in a box for the Salvation Army and keep this set, but a favorite niece is getting married in two weeks and I am going to give it to the happy couple. Maybe they will realize how nice these knives are and consider them as a family heirloom in the future. ... show more

I’m extremely impressed with the quality of the knife set. The set come with 18 pcs and a storage block. Each knife has a black handle with a stainless steel blade. Each piece has such a unique design on the blades. This is a very durable and well made knife collection . The set does come with scissors and a built in knife sharpener.The blades are extremely sharp and cuts through items quickly and easily. I gave the four star rating because the set is very pricey.
