Preface: I have a 10'x12' room I've converted to a home theater with a 100" projector screen. I also have a large Hi-Fi with Magneplanar 1.7i speakers and an Emotiva stack. I use a PS4 for my base BD player and an Intel-based Windows workstation as a streaming device for both my video content and as a SteamBox for gaming. The room is treated with sound absorbing panels and drapery to help with bass-trapping and unwanted reflections. The rears are on common triangle-style podium stands I hand-built and are secured in place with 20lb sandbags. The Center is on a custom bench I made (with triangle-style pillar legs) over the center-aligned Subwoofer directly underneath the center-point of the projection screen. Unfortunately, 92" of the wall's 108" width is taken up with the projection screen, and the room having a somewhat short length, means that the speakers have to be butted up against the walls both front/back and the sides, so, they have very sub-optimal placement. Review: With all of that said, these things are LOUD, clear as CRYSTAL, and after treating the room with foam diffusers, setting up the room-correction on my receiver, and adjusting the PS4/Windows to accommodate the 5.1+Atmos (where possible), the stereo and positional effects are GREAT! Music has clear and broad soundstage, image separation is quite good for an HT setup (at least as good as my Denon receiver can produce), and music playback is not nearly as good as my full audiophile setup but is still impeccable for a 5.1 (even in multi-channel stereo using the rears/center along with just the towers.) I slighted the bang-for-buck score to 4/5 because, while these clearly out-perform my previous Fluance 5.1 bundle, that was 200$ with a 200$ separate sub, and the audio quality was about 80% of what this provides at more than 3x the cost. Audio equipment does not scale linearly, so as components get better, their price scales out of phase with the quality gains, and with THAT in mind, these are a very reasonable price when compared with audiophile gear and provide anywhere from 90-95% of the quality I've seen from boutique/designer brands at 2-5x the cost, so these ARE still quite a good bang-for-buck, but only when you're in a place where you're trying to eke out whatever boost you can over the base 80/20-ROI curve. IMO these are pretty top-tier in their price bracket and there may be some min-maxing to do in the sub-$2k window compared to these and whatever individual needs someone may have, but you will have to jump into the $5k+ window (and upgrade into substantially better amplifier, source, and room infrastructure) before you will hear any tangible acoustic benefits. ... show more

I bought the Klipsch home theater speakers to replace my old Pioneer speakers. They made a noticeable difference in sound quality, and movies are amazing.

I am going to take off one star for the garbage screws and cheap plastic for the feet. Everything else where it really counts is solid quality for the price. Happy with the purchase!

    • Not an illusion! Totally worth it!
I have been an audio head for as long as I can remember and I’ve always wanted a great set of speakers for my home entertainment system, but was always discouraged by the price. I recently purchased a Denon 3700 AV receiver and was looking to purchase a new set of surround speakers that would work with the Dolby Atmos feature. I was overwhelmed by the pricing of decent speakers at the retailer I was shopping at, BB. So I took my shopping online. At first I was worried because the fine print said it was “not a matched set”. Did not matter. All outwards appearances match. The speakers work very well together and sound amazing. The front floor speakers are crisp and clean. Such an improvement from the Polk speakers I was previously running. My wife, who does not like loud surround sound sounds, has been doing nothing but wanting to watch different movies since setting these up. Bang em up, shoot em up, explosion type movies! Could not be happier. And for the price?! Definitely could not be happier. If your ears have been waiting for relief and your sitting on the fence wondering if you should order these or not, I am here to tell you to order these now and you won’t be discouraged. A few years ago, I bought 2 floor towers that came damaged in shipping. It took 4 speakers to get 2 not damaged. This new set of home theater speakers all came in good shape. I'm not qualified to rate the speakers themselves. See a professional for that.

If you want to play this loud, add sound proof insulation. I added a second Klipsch 12" ported subwoofer to round out the base. It is crisp, clear, and performs at all levels. Low level tv or video games -- all the way through the loudest movie you can play... it performs. I annoy my wife 2 stories above with action movies at ~55db. This speaker system is paired with a Denon AVR-S760H 7.2 Channel 8K AV Receiver + BenQ TK700STi 4K + Apple TV 4k + HDMI extender with a 50ft HDMI cable. ... show more

    • Extremely good sound that doesn't require a 2nd mortgage
Was eyeing the $1200 Klipsch atmos sound bar. Found it wouldn't fit between the legs on my TV so I looked for alternatives. I found these 5.1.2 speakers + a Sony STR-DH790 for $450 (on amazon). Total price was about $1600. For $400 more than the Klipsch soundbar I got probably 3x the sound quality. The sub is impressive. That 12" hits pretty low (29hz). I haven't heard it clip once. Watched Dune and BladeRunner 2049; both very heavy on bass. Handles them very well. I'm convinced the only way to get good atmos is with true overhead speakers, that said, these towers with the upfiring speakers do an ok job. I had to turn up the height channel db in my receiver quite a bit to hear them. No I'm not an audiophile. I want loud and clean and clear dialog in my movies. I want the floor to rumble and to hear sounds all around me. This set does that easily. ... show more
