I'm trying to use less plastic products and wanted to try shampoo bars. I came across another brands shampoo bars but despite saying they were natural, there were lots of ingredients that weren't. I came across the kitsch brand and have tried and liked other kitsch products I've purchased, plus I loved all the ingredients in their shampoo bar, so I figured I'd give it a try. I was shocked at the lather and how great my hair felt after washing!! Just like the expensive natural shampoos I've been using but no plastic waste. Love the soft scent too. I have only used these shampoo and conditioner bars once, and my thick, coarse, mature hair feels amazing! I love the castor oil bar for shampooing and the coconut oil bar for conditioning. They smell wonderful , too.

UPDATE: I decided to continue using the product to figure out why it had worked so well and then didn't. When my hair started getting waxy, I tried using less and less product to prevent the issue. But as it turns out, using less prevents it from lathering well which was causing the shampoo not to rinse well. I started rubbing the bar directly onto my hair to create a good sudsy lather, and that made all the difference! ____________________________________________________________________________________________ I had really high hopes for these... At first I was getting good results, but after about a week my hair started to get a waxy coating on it, no matter how much time I spent rinsing. After a few weeks it was pretty bad. I stopped using the conditioner in case that was the problem but it made no difference. I reached out to Kitsch and explained the issue and described my hair type to ask if it was maybe the wrong product type for my hair. Not only did they refund me for the shampoo & conditioner, but they sent me the Tea Tree shampoo and conditioner for free! | My hair felt clean after the first wash, but within a week it started to get the waxy buildup again :( I'm not sure if I just happened to get defective products or if these just don't work with my hair type or if there's some other issue going on... The customer service is fantastic so I'd say these products are definitely worth a try, I just wish they had worked for me :( ... show more

After washing my hair it feels dried out!!!!! The bar smells good and the suds are amazing and takes very little however it feels like it is stripping my hair! I have a cosmetology license and just wanted to try out a Bar soap. However as much as I wanted to LOVE this I am realizing it is way too stripping. The hair feels super dried out even while wet and not at all how just cleaned hair should be feeling. Even after conditioning and leave in serums it has left my hair dried out and now frizzy. ... show more

I love the kit-sch shampoo bars. I have purchased 3 shampoo bars and one conditioner. This review is about the castor oil bar. I don't see anything special about this particular one. It tends to leave my scalp feeling dry. I love the rice water shampoo bar the best. If you haven't tried the kit-sch conditioner bars, please do! I love it better than all my expensive conditioners. It will leave your hair soft and manageable without taking all the body out of your hair. I also like the compact size of the bars.
