  • This is an awesome nailer / stapler! Then it wasn't. It became very dangerous.
Style: Brad Nailer 20V 2 Batteries
The media could not be loaded. Update: I bought another one of these because the first one worked so well. The second one worked for a few hours then when I went to replace the battery I smelled burning electronics. I yanked the battery out and the smell stopped. I put the battery back in and it seemed fine but when I pulled the trigger only the light would come on. The gun wouldn't fire. I removed the battery and tried another, known good battery and the gun began constantly firing. It completely ignores the trigger and the safety tip and just fires constantly. I'll include a video showing the problem. Apparently the second battery it came with was defective and when I attached it to the staple gun it burned out parts of the staple gun. So I got one that works fine and one that is clearly defective. I'm returning the clearly broken one. ---------- I have the DeWalt 18 gauge brad nailer, but it won't shoot staples. I went to use my pneumatic nailer / stapler the other day and it had broken. The little safety mechanism wouldn't depress all the way in. so the gun wouldn't fire. I went online to buy a new pneumatic nailer / stapler and saw this. I have two other Kimo tools. The 1/2" impact and the 3/8" ratchet. They are both very good, reliable tools, so I went ahead and bought this too. After setting it up I am very impressed with it! My DeWalt uses angled 18 gauge brad nails that are a little harder to find than the straight ones and a little more expensive. The DeWalt also will not fire staples. Just brad nails. This Kimo uses the more common straight brad nails and standard 18 gauge staples and it functions better than the Dewalt too. The DeWalt takes longer to "spin up" than this Kimo does, and its louder than the Kimo. Both the DeWalt and the Kimo have a built-in soft tip, that you can't lose. That's nice. A friend of mine has a porter cable that uses little replaceable plastic soft tips. he is always losing them and they are not cheap to replace. The Kimo's is built in and cannot be lost. That's a big bonus. When you are installing cabinets with a fine paint job on them, losing the dang soft tip is very annoying. I am thinking of selling my DeWalt and just using this Kimo for everything. Kimo tools are great. They are offered at great prices and I have never experienced a quality issue with any of them. I am a Kimo fan now with three of their tools in my arsenal. ... show more

  • Great nail gun
Style: Brad Nailer 20V 2 Batteries
I mainly got this brad/staple driver to finish baseboard trim throughout my house. I have not been disappointed. It has some quirks but once you are past them, this is It has been an amazing tool. It is a bit heavy, but it is balanced which helps with wrist fatigue). The included instructions were informative and the depth adjust knob is so easy to use. The key to maintenance is keeping it clean and away from moisture(lubricating it is easy). I am very satisfied with this purchase. ... show more

  • I'm a DeWalt snob, this tool is impressive! Bravo Kimo
Style: Brad Nailer 20V 2 Batteries
Review for Kimo Model 9418A, 18GA 20V Cordless Brad Nailer/Stapler. What’s included? Cordless nailer/stapler, carry bag, instruction manual, charging station, singular 20V lithium-ion battery (2.0 Ah), nails Qty. 700; 1-5/8”, staples Qty 300; 1-5/8”, and a hex key (not shown in pic). Why not 5 stars? Three “minor” reasons for the loss of 1 star. The box it came in was not sealed. That made me presumed I was going to be missing something, I wasn’t, but yeah seal the box. Secondly, the carry bag does not allow the nailer/stapler to sit flush in the bottom of the bag, especially when nails/staples are placed in the inside compartments. Lastly, when inserting the battery into the charging station there is no tactile click, or any felt retention. I’m a DeWalt guy, maybe I just assumed that was how it always is? Overall, these are petty issues, but I’m hyper critical and giving a review so... Now why it probably does deserve five stars. It worked perfectly straight out of the box! I gave the battery a good hour of charging and then loaded it with a stick of Bostitch 18GA 5/8” nails. I had a piece of doorstop that needed love and the depth was already spot on for this task. (10 clicks short of max depth on the drive depth adj. wheel.) I enjoyed that so much I went on and fixed up two other door frames that the change of season has wreaked havoc on. (incredibly old house) I deliberately started with the smallest size nails, figuring if it were going to have feeding issues it would be made clear quickly. Not a single misfire, blowout, nothing. I sure don’t miss listening to the compressor! (Or entangling myself with the hose.) As you would assume you do have to deal with additional weight if you had been using air powered tools. E.g. Like going from a Glock to a 1911. Please note, these are day one observations. I assure you if it doesn’t continue giving me this kind of joy using it, I’ll be back and notify y’all. FYI this was my first Kimo product but, unless the future dissuades me, it won’t be my last. Very satisfied! Sorry DeWalt, I just can't justify $300 or more for something I won't use super frequently. I hope this was of some value to someone. ... show more

  • It does not last and no product support!
Style: Brad Nailer 20V 2 Batteries
After getting this nailer we were extremely happy with it. It did everything we needed, but as time went by it began not pushing the nails or staples as deep as it once did. This started happening within 6 months of the purchase. By the eight month this nailer would no longer serve our needs at all. I tried contacting the company to find replacement parts or a repair center or anything to restore the tool, but I got nowhere. It appears there is no customer service what so ever, because every time I asked for any kind of help or direction, I got a generic answer of "We are sorry you are having problems with our product." Thats it! Offered nothing as far as a way to fix or repair. This company offered nothing to us and I feel like we were taken advantage of because it seems that others have had the same problem. I would not call this tool cheap, but I would have rather spent a little more if necessary and gotten something a company stood behind and that could be repaired if necessary. ... show more
