If you're already invested in the Makita ecosystem, or you prioritize durability and power over weight and price, this brad nailer could be an excellent addition to your tool collection. However, for the majority, the investment seems to pay off in reliability and performance.

  • Decent Nailer for home projects
Style: Tool Only
I know a lot of people don't like this Nailer, especially in the industries where they use this type of equipment heavily; However, from my experience with home renovations and helping friends and neighbors out, it has done everything advertised. Takes some getting used to, to know what pressure to set it to for different materials, but it works and has sunk every nail I put through it. I chose it to stick with the brand. The only thing I with was that they integrated the battery more uniformly with the handle so it doesn't stick out so far. ... show more

  • Just the right tool for the job
Style: Tool Only
I love the portability and power that this unit puts out. I see a lot of people complaining about the weight and bulkiness. It’s not a pneumatic tool so you are not even comparing apples to apple. If you are doing some DIY stuff around the house, this unit does the job. It is heavier then a standard pneumatic tool, but I’m building an entire house so I’m satisfied with it. ... show more

  • Keep it in the truck
Style: Tool Only
It works well so far but most importantly I don’t need to keep a compressor and hose with me so I can keep this with me all the time in truck. The convenience alone is worth it.

  • What happened, Makita?
Style: Tool Only
I’ve had this gun for 6 months, and this tool has turned out to be the greatest disappointment of my entire collection! Six months ago, this tool work ok. Had some misfiring, but I overlooked it. I work with a large scale millwork company installing millwork for a new 4 Seasons Hotel. I needed this gun to work throughout the long haul. I needed this tool to be dependable in high pressure situation. But throughout the last few weeks, it has let me down consistently. Just today, I’m installing baseboards, and the gun (with full battery life, and plenty of 2” 18ga. nails) misfired nearly 30 times before a single nail shot out. So I take the gun aside, and do maintenance on it, check for jams, etc. I complete the maintenance, go to shoot more nails in the base board, and nothing! Just a bunch of holes where the pin hit the board! Not only did this use up a lot of time doing maintenance to the tool, but the touch up process on nearly 50+ holes in a 14’ long board ate up lots of time and money! I’ve been a Makita guy for years, but the the direction Makita is taking with their nail guns are slowly turning me to Dewalt. My advice: Don’t buy this tool. You will loose lots of time and money using this for any real work. ... show more

  • Works almost perfect
Style: Tool Only
I’ve had this nail gun for a bit now and it is definitely convenient to have over the standard air tools. Most of the time this nailer shoots correctly, but every 6-10 times when I shoot it, it ends up dry firing, but usually goes back to firing normal. Also sometimes on the first shot the nail won’t sink properly into whatever trim I’m shooting, so having a good nail set is a must. I really like the ergonomics of the gun. It’s very balanced, as opposed to a lot of similar brad nailers from other brands. Overall I like it a lot, but I would expect it to fire more consistently for the price point. ... show more

  • Great for DIYer; not so much for contractors
Style: Tool Only
I felt this product got a bad rep on some mixed reviews. In my mind, it's perfect suitable for DIYers or jobs around the house. I'm not a contractor, but I can see why they would prefer a different tool. For jobs around the house or DIY projects, this will work perfectly. I used it for several different material combinations, including 3/4" oak-to-3/4" oak. Contrary to other reviews, I had no problems with the tool being under powered. At the highest power setting, the nose does have a tendency to follow into the wood too much and get stuck. Rolling the power down just a touch alleviates the problem entirely, and sacrifices no performance. So, if anything, you could claim it's overpowered a little bit. If you're a contractor and spending all day every day attaching molding, you're going to notice the fire rate can be sluggish and the balance is terrible. Both of these factors only impact in high volume jobs. If you're not doing high volume, you probably won't notice. The one thing I wanted to avoid more than anything else was collecting a battery pack and charger for yet another tool brand. I already have three different brands of chargers; I really didn't want to devote the space or money to another. The performance I get out of this tool meets all my needs and expectations, having used on a variety of DIY projects thus far. That said, the balance and fire rate are sub par for what I've come to expect from Makita, and I can see why contractors would want a different tool. ... show more

  • Good homeowner grade brad nailer

  • My most used tool (my favorite tool too!)
Style: Tool Only
I seriously can't say enough good things about this brad nailer. I have used it for so many things. And because it is easy to load and grab when I need it, I end up using it for quick repairs almost on the daily. I have owned this tool for almost 1 1/2 years and have NEVER, not even once, had a jam or a misfired nail. I have put it through the wringer with different size brads and even different brands of brands and they all have fired without fail. This is one of the few tools that I pulled out my wallet to spend good money for and this cheapskate does not regret it one bit. ... show more
