  • Flaws
We love it but it kicks my husbands phone off of being the player one for Bluetooth all the time and auto connects mine even though his is number one. Also it has Bluetooth connectivity issues frequently where we have to disconnect and reconnect to it and it never just auto connects anymore when you get in the car and start music on your phone. It did at first but stopped. ... show more

  • Excellent product, but like most head units, the USB Flash Drive features seem to be limited
Excellent radio over all. Plenty of sound control options: Bass/Mid/Treble, Loudness, several preset equalizer settings, speaker placement and size settings, type of vehicle. I have never quite got the sound to where I like it but I believe that is due to a mismatch in my new 4 ohm Pioneer front door speakers and my old 3 ohm JBL rear deck speakers (23+ years old)' I have to turn the fader way to the front to get an equal balance and if I turn it too much to the rear the JBLs start to sound muddy; so I don't believe that is the head unit's fault. Plenty of support for various audio sources. I found had an issue with Pandora not displaying metadata (it did originally) and it seems to be the latest Pandora app that is the cause; however, I found if I set the source from Pandora to BT Audio, my Pandora metadata appeared even though it still refuses to display on the Pandora source setting. The rest of this review is about USB Flash Drive support. The only real complaint I have is the same complaint for most head units from other manufacturers; the USB Flash Drive support. I have a huge collection (120GB). I put it on a 128GB flash drive sorted by /genre/artist/album/songs and the unit can go through those okay. However, I have NOT been able to get the m3u playlists to work. Still trying. I could put all of my genre songs in one folder and use the 'random' feature on the head unit but then I couldn't ever listen to a particular artist if I was in the mood. So, 1 star downgrade for that which I will change if I get playlists to work. If you don't plan on using USB Flash Drives for your music, then this would be a 5 star review for you. I didn't think I would use a flash drive until I looked into the cost of mp3/iPod players that have a LOT of storage. I am still playing with the playlists and also looking into cheap mp3 players that have a port for external memory. Edit: 3/25/2021 I've tried everything to get a flash drive to function adequately. m3u is not supported and I even tried the Kenwood Music Editor and the Kenwood Playlist Editor which use Kenwood's proprietary database format, but neither of those worked either. Now, even if I stick strictly to a folder structure and abandoned the playlists altogether, the head unit doesn't see all of my folders where it did once before. It seems almost every time I make a change to the flash drive it gets worse and worse. I tried contacting Kenwood support which says it generally replies in 24 hours, but I haven't heard anything back yet after several days. The unit is slow to turn on also, which I was willing to overlook, but now I wonder about Kenwood's software capabilities. Starting to wish I never got it. ... show more
