Got tired of flushing water down the drain in the kitchen waiting for it to get hot (about 1 minute), and in bathrooms, needing 5 seconds of hot water for rinsing hands, etc. and just using cold instead because of the wait. With this small 2.5 gal water heater - installed in the hot water line right under several sinks (kitchen and bathroom), the water is hot before you can move your hand from the faucet to the water stream. At 2.5 gal and set the same as the main water heater (120F), the temperature holds at hot-to-warm until the hot water from the main house water heater arrives (an occasional kitchen sink situation). For my intended use the $73/yr federal energy sticker cost is useless. It is calculated based on hot water use 10+ times higher than our bathroom sink and even higher than the kitchen sink (the dishwasher is still direct-connect to the main water heater since it heats its own water). Our electricity is under $0.10/kwh, so I figure these are costing us less than $10/yr for bathrooms and maybe $25~$30/yr for the kitchen. Well worth it. ... show more

I would have given 5 stars except for the water leaks. Water heater is a space saver and works great now(see old water heater pic and new pic).Like other people who reviewed the top pressure relief valve leaks. I don’t have my calipers with me, but it’s obvious the threads are machined out of tolerance I think on both inlet and the top valve. To fix it used heavy duty blue tape wrapping it at least 2 times around. Buy 2 fittings from home depot and tape them twice as well. Then tighten as much as you can without damaging the unit(see picture). All other attempts with a direct connection of the supplied parts leaked at the relieve valve on top. ... show more

    • DO NOT BUY WILL LEAK exterior also gets EXTREMELY HOT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS
I have had 2 of these in an RV with the same leakage issue the unit will not get hot enough unless on full power and the tank is only large enough for a 2min shower (LITERALLY 2 minutes then its straight from the cold). Used for a couple months and then had same issue with the heat causing some sort of internal expansion damaging seals within the unit. Unit exterior also gets EXTREMELY HOT POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS... DO NOT BUY WILL LEAK (Currently seeking warranty w/ no response from seller) ... show more

    • Nice hot water heater, good value and use
I have installed this unit in my garage to use in the bathroom and I have an outside large sink for cleaning. This unit was easy to install, I prewired the plug outlet with a switch so I can just flip a switch when I leave the garage to turn it off. When I turn it on it when entering the garage, it takes 15 to 20 minutes to get up to temp. Always hot by the time I need to use it for washing hand in the bathroom or cleaning stuff in the garage. I would purchase again, it has worked well, I have only had it installed for about 6 months, but it is flawless at this point. I do like that it has a light on the front so I can tell if it is on or off. It is a reminder when leaving the garage for the night to flip the switch. ... show more

    • Enjoying the Really Hot Water
The tank is small and easy to install. Best part is, if you turn it to the hottest setting, the 4 gallons of water will be so hot that you only need a trickle mixed with the cold for a 4 to 5 minute shower. Worst part is if your turn it to the hottest setting and turn it on without cold water, that little trickle will scald you. If I had children in the house, I would not crank this up to 167 degrees and probably wouldn't be able to get that 5 minute shower. But I don't, and I'm loving the showers in my RV. I recommend this tank for RVs for sure! ... show more
