We recently purchased this pergola in hopes that it would solve our sun/wind issues on our patio. We tried a 11 foot patio umbrella in the past and it moved around quite a bit due to wind. We were looking for something that would provide sun blocking and that would hold up in the wind as well and figured we would give this option a try. The product arrived quickly and was not damaged during shipping. The instructions were easy to follow and assembly went smoothly with 2 people. There were a couple of holes that were not drilled in the right place, but was easily corrected. The frame of the product is a lightweight, greyish colored aluminum and is sturdy when assembled. We ordered the grey canopy option and the color is very nice with the frame. We attached the pergola to our cement patio and so far, it has been great! The retractable cover is easy to use and locks into place when the canopy is open. We will add curtains or shades on the sides to help with some of the sun block due to the way the sun moves across our patio, but sun block from the canopy top is great. I had to reach out to customer service for one issue we had, but they followed up promptly and were able to take care of this matter quickly and properly. We are happy with our new addition and hope that it provides us with years of sun protection. ... show more

So this is certainly not be the best Pergola money can buy, but if you're looking for a solid budget option that doesn't sacrifice on quality, I highly recommend Purple Leaf! It takes about as long to assemble as you would expect (it's not quick, but it's totally reasonable). I highly recommend doing as the instructions suggest and making sure you have all the pieces before starting the assembly process. We discovered a few small missing pieces later in the process, but the good news is that Purple Leaf support is absolutely excellent. They were incredibly responsive, shipped the replacement parts right away (we got the replacements in less than a week), and then continued to follow up periodically until we finally found the time to finish building and were sure that we had everything we needed. Additionally, despite being very well packaged, one of the main legs had a small bend in it. However, the missing pieces and small dent were entirely mitigated by their excellent support. Ultimately, we're very pleased with the finished product. The only minor caveat is that you should not expect a stable enough pergola to support anything with weight. The final product provides great shade and is stable by itself, but if you bump it, it will sway a bit. Still, this is entirely minor for the price. If we needed a structure that could be climbed on, we'd have spent more money for a wooden one. I highly recommend this for a quality budget option. ... show more

This is my revised review. We received this pergola and did a complete item by item checklist, making sure we had all the parts. It appeared that we did, that is, until we started to build it. When we got about half way through, we found that the parts listed B and B1 and C and C1 were incorrect. This held us up for about 2 weeks while we worked with customer service and finally got the correct parts shipped to us. Now the pergola is finally assembled and looks great. It took a long time to get there though. Instructions are not the best. My recommendation would be to use the instructions as a guideline, and use your head to really think it through. The end result is good though. The quality appears to be solid and nicely finished. It was a frustrating project overall, but worth the extra effort. Thank you ... show more

I am beyond impressed with this product - from the design, to the assembly process, to the customer service! Here are the key points: - It looks great! It's lightweight, but sturdy, with a wonderful finish on the aluminum and great quality canvas on the shade. Also, I was so happy to see that they don't use stickers that leave a residue on the product when you peel them off! BONUS POINTS! - It goes together easily! My husband and I were able to assemble it in less than 2 hours! Now, that being said, I'm one of those weirdos that enjoys assembling furniture in the dim light, with a glass of wine and some calming instrumentals on a Saturday night. It brings me calm when most people would be cursing everyone that thinks that Ikea is something other than a torture superstore. - The customer service was great! As said in a few other reviews - I received an incorrect piece, contacted the seller, and had a new one at my door before the week was through. They were prompt, helpful and communicative. - The only challenge we had during the whole process was getting the seal on the upright posts onto both the upper and lower sections in order to screw the support in. Not a huge deal though - just took a little more patience and elbow grease (luckily we had a fresh can ready). Honestly, I'm glad the seal fits that tightly! Just be prepared for a little annoyance and fingertip pain when you get to that part. THE BEST ADVICE I CAN GIVE YOU FOR ASSEMBLY: Don't tighten the screws on each step until all of them are in. I had no issues getting them aligned, didn't have to route out any holes to make them fit, I just got them all in place before I cranked down on the wrench. The parts are very well engineered, labeled consistently and come with very clear instructions. TL;DR: If you are looking for a pergola, this one is great quality at a great price. ... show more

The entire process was painless. The pergola arrived when promised. The labeling on each item in tge kit was accurate. The instructions , which consisted of pictures/drawings were very helpful.
