Description

The Atmospheric Vent FVIR Defender Safety System Models Feature: ■ Bradford White ICON System—Intelligent gas control with proven millivolt powered technology and built-in piezo igniter. A standard, off the shelf thermopile converts heat energy from the pilot flame into electrical energy to operate the gas valve and microprocessor. No need for external electricity. -- Enhanced Performance—Proprietary algorithms provide enhanced First Hour Delivery ratings and tighter temperature differentials. -- Advanced Temperature Control System—Microprocessor constantly monitors and controls burner operation to maintain consistent and accurate water temperature levels. -- Intelligent Diagnostics—An exclusive green LED light prompts the installer during start-up and provides ten different diagnostic codes to assist in troubleshooting. -- Pilot On Indication—Flashing green LED provides positive indication that pilot is on. -- Separate Immersed Thermowell—High-strength advanced polymer composite thermowell provides isolation between electric temperature sensor and surrounding water. No need to drain the tank when removing gas valve. ■ Advanced ScreenLok Technology Flame Arrestor Design—Flame arrestor is designed to prevent ignition of flammable vapor outside of the water heater. ■ Resettable Thermal Switch—Proven and reliable bimetallic switch prevents burner and pilot operation in case of ongoing flammable vapor burn inside of the combustion chamber or restricted air flow. ■ Maintenance-Free—No regular cleaning of air inlet openings or flame arrestor is required under normal conditions. ■ Sight Window—Offers a view into the combustion chamber to observe the operation of the pilot and burner. ■ Factory-Installed Hydrojet Total Performance System—Cold water inlet sediment reducing device helps prevent sediment build-up in tank. Increases first hour delivery of hot water while minimizing temperature build-up in tank.

Top Amazon Reviews

🚀 Abunda's Overview

This is our summary and key points to consider based on customer reviews.

The product reviews for the Bradford White water heater show a mixed response. Some users praise it for its excellent performance and longevity, claiming it provides a constant supply of hot water and lasts up to 15 years. However, others criticize the product for coming with faulty parts and poor warranty service, with a failed gas valve being a common problem.

Pros

  • 🔥 Provides constant supply of hot water
  • 🤏 Easy to install
  • ⏳ Long-lasting, up to 15 years according to some users
  • 🔧 No need for regular maintenance as per some users

Cons

  • ❌ Some users have reported multiple failed units
  • 💥 Problems with the heating element and gas valve controls
  • 👎 Some units have been reported to come dented
  • 📜 Problems with honoring the warranty by the company

Should I Buy It?

Given the mixed reviews, the decision to buy this product should depend on your individual needs and risk tolerance. It evidently performs well when it works, providing a consistent supply of hot water and staying functional for several years; but be prepared to encounter some issues, possibly even within less than a year of purchase, and potentially deal with challenging warranty service.

  • Beware: Bradford White’s Warranty Service is a Nightmare
Beware: Bradford White’s Warranty Service is a Nightmare I purchased a Bradford White water heater in May 2022 for a four-unit building, and it failed last month. According to Bradford White’s protocol, I had my plumber contact their customer service multiple times, but there was no response. I also reached out myself twice and submitted an online request, all without any follow-up. With tenants in four units left without hot water, I had no choice but to purchase and install a replacement unit from Home Depot. When I attempted to return the defective unit to the Bradford White retailer, they refused to honor the warranty. It seems Bradford White’s warranty service is designed to be so cumbersome that customers are forced to abandon the process and buy a new unit instead. This experience has led me to question the quality of their products and their commitment to customer support. ... show more

Second unit installed and 5 months later May 2024 stop working goes off by itself. Called plumber again and stated that I should go to warranty services process. 5 days without hot water still waiting to book and evaluation appointment to see what needs to be done. Buyers please……please….. please I am begin you stay away from Bradford white water heater and Amazon should stop selling products that do not stand behind they promise warranties. Over rated and over priced GARBAGE Products. Avoid a headache and losing your money on this brand. ... show more

  • Awesome brand
I am a Plumbing Contractor and install Bradfordwhite water heaters on a weekly basis, These are good water heater , made in USA. Those people who are complaining about there's being dented , well you should be taking that up with the store you bought it from, Bradfordwhite has nothing to do with it being dented, either the shipping ( if you got it shipped ) or the store is responsible for that. Also i see complaints about the water heater failing, 1st these water heaters need to be installed by a licensed Plumber, Not a handyman, not a home owner, not a general contractor. A licensed Plumber only!. Also if you have a plumber install it, he should be telling you to flush the water heater every year, this will pro long the life, so if your plumber or whoever installed it didn't tell you, then you should take out your frustration on them. I have installed every brand out there, And in my opinion Bradfordwhite is the best. But if its installed wrong, or if someone is rough housing it during shipping or unloading, then of course your going to have issues. I buy mine directly from the contractor supply store, and i am very careful with loading and unloading it. I take my time installing them, and i always tell customers to drain and flush them every year, if thry choose not to then that's on them. Most homeowners dont do anything after its installed, they dont even bother to read the manual. So if you buy a Bradford white or any brand water heater, you should stop being so cheap and hire a licensed master plumber with good ratings to install it properly, And i bet you will not have issues. ... show more

  • Buyer Beware!
Any Bradford White water heater for sale directly to the consumer is NOT sold by Bradford White but by an unauthorized re-seller which accounts for some of the numerous poor reviews shown here. Bradford White is ONLY available through plumbing contractors or authorized wholesale only distributors. You take your chances that the product shown here may have defects or not be strictly as represented. In either case you also take a chance that if something goes wrong you may have trouble with full warranty protection without a hassle. ... show more

  • Mine arrived dented too!
I just had this water heater installed today so I don't know the long term quality yet. Others have said theirs came dented. Mine did too! The company who installed it, warranties the unit for 10 years and labor for repairs for 3 years. The total cost including tax, installation and disposal of my old 30 year old water heater was an even $1,500. They initially quoted me $2,000 - which included replacing the wood floor in the utility closest and bringing all water, gas and venting connections up to code. I told the instillation company that $1,500 was my all-in budget and the installation company met my budget. ... show more

  • Made To Fail
Spending today replacing this water heater that began a tank leak about 24 hours ago. The good news is that I am two months within the 6-year warranty, so timing is everything, isn't it? Here is the reality dose, which I imagine many know and will not be surprised to learn. All water heater manufacturers make tanks like this to last on average 7-10 years. Their business model is predicated that the average consumer is going to be installing a new water heater like this one at some point during this span. This is the definition of planned obsolescence, Usage and water quality are certainly important factors affecting the longevity, as is yearly maintenance. For kicks, take a poll of your family, friends, and work colleagues to see which ones actively maintain their water heaters each year...I consider myself lucky to have had mine fail today within two months of its warranty expiration. Like many other products today, manufacturing is predicated on average longevity determined by the industry. FWIW, I do like this product, and I requested it specifically years ago. I recommend it--with the caveat I have stated above. ... show more
