  • Works well

What I wanted was a small point of use water heater that would not overheat the water. This product has met my expectations. My house hot water tank is about 40 (pipe)feet from the kitchen. It takes over 1 minute of running the hot water to get the hot water to the sink. I installed the heater in the riser hot water line of my kitchen sink faucet. IMPORTANT: USE ONLY A GFCI CIRCUIT BREAKER to power this device. Now installed, it now takes about 2-3 seconds for the water to "start feeling warmer" and about 10-15 seconds to be at 110 degrees. More importantly, when the 130 degree house hot water finally reaches this unit, it will not overheat the water coming out the faucet. The hot water coming out your faucet will eventually be at your house hot water temperature. It's also important to know that the colder your input water, the lower the temperature will be AND/OR, the higher the water flow, the lower the temperature. Our winter cold water is about 65 degrees normally. This little unit can supply 107 degree water at full flow, within 30 seconds or so. Eventually, 120 degrees after about 1 minute at full flow. It won't work miracles. If you have really cold water, don't expect the flow rate to be high to get warm water. You'll have to get a higher wattage unit. If your water is cold, you'll probably want to go with a small hot water tank instead of a tankless. The unit will reduce it's power draw as the input water temperature increases. I've proved this with an ampmeter at the power panel. Initially, it draws about 23-25 amps, then reduces until no extra heating (power) is necessary. Like all tankless hot water heaters, it suffers from the same drawbacks. A "trickle" of water will not activate the heating element and you'll have cold water gaps when used frequently. It is small and looks well built. It should fit under most kitchen sink cabinets. This was exactly what I wanted and so far, is working well. Again, ONLY USE A GFCI CIRCUIT BREAKER to power this unit. ... show more

  • Works exactly as needed

So the situation is this... office is about 50-75' away from where the traditional gas fired hot water heater is located. The water travels in a non-insulated area that let's face it...the water is cold. The worst part? Takes a good 3-4 minutes to get warm water. Yes, I have timed it and the colder it is....the longer it takes. So I was originally going to put in a lowboy or some other small tanked heater--- then I started to look at the tankless units. For me it came down to what do we really need it for? Bathroom sinks and a sink for the kitchen--- honestly none are used with any amount of vigor, so I went with something that was not too big power consumption wise. This is supported by a 30A double pole breaker and 10ga wire. I have seen some post where people have used 12ga--- that is incorrect wire sizing and although it "works" it creates heat and can easily cause fires, etc. Save yourself or the life of others--- use the correct wire size. So after getting it installed and what we did for our situation was to break in the line and plumb this inline with the gas hot water heater as an assist. PEX and Shark Bite fittings made short work of it all and tying into the existing copper. Leak tested, and let it purge out any air....turned on the breaker and set the temp to 110-degrees. So now it takes a mere 10-15 seconds depending on which sink you use. Water is plenty warm to wash your hands or clean silverware, cups, etc. So overall I am duly impressed. I have really thought about it and in the future I will be buying one for home as I have a 240V/30A outlet for other purposes in my garage that I will use with one of these to wash cars--- warm water always works better and right now I only have cold water. I also have recommended it to a friend that has a pier and a wash station--- same situation in that they have hot and cold, but the the hot takes forever to get there....so they're going to be installing one this spring. ... show more

  • Product description is misleading

Easy to set up and install except for the cold water inlet line, very difficult to get it to quit leaking, finally used a thread sealant. Usage is another matter. Very little increase in water temp above inlet temp. I live in Eastern WA. and it is summer time, water supply is from our well, approx 57F, 45 psi. It would indicate an output of maybe 98F but as measured with a number of calibrated devices was really only 80 ish. In common with other reviewers I found I had to dial the water flow back to not much more than a trickle to get anything near 100F regardless as to what the heater was set to. Then to make matters worse I could just stand there and watch the indicated output (hot) water temp slowly drop to about 75F then slowly rise again somewhere around 100F and then repeat. Never could get to 100F actually out of the faucet (which was mounted directly below the heater). Very disappointed. I bought 2 of these and they both act the same. They were for use in our lab. which is part of our winery and we need hot water for sanitizing, thought these units would be perfect. If the product details on Amazon's site were truthful they would have been. I believe there is a concept known as 'Truth in advertising", Amazon should be held accountable for the falsehoods it allows to be promoted on it's site Do Not Buy, it is little more than a con. ... show more
